Oh Curtis..... way to be a traitor.... LOL I guess it would not be horrible... If I were you, I would definetly add a page explaining the benefits of a RAW diet, along with easy to follow instructions for begginers (I find this to be the most difficult part of RAW feeding, finding a newbie friendly starting page). If you DO decide to sell dog food, just list the pros and cons. I would stick to premiums, as you have been looking at. No corn. No wheat. No by-products. Have you also looked at Diamon, Canidae, or Blue Buffalo? Maybe not the BEST, but compared to grain free foods like EVO that commonly sell for 60-80$ a bag, they are still "premium" but a little more 'wallet friendly' to the average dog owner. BTW, Royal Canin is sh*t. I'm surprised you're even considering it. Right up there with Hills, IMHO. Their whole marketing ploy is "breed specific". In reality, why do seperate breeds need seperate foods? It's the same with puppies MUST eat different then adults. A decent food should cover all aspects of proper nutrition and health. Royal Canin is also a "scientifically correct food". Meaning it's mostly filler crap like corn and wheat, and then supplements and man made vitamins, other chemical crap, to add in the nutrients. No offense, but I would rather my animal gain nutrition from real animal meat, not some man made supplement. My aunt orders Diamon online because she lives in the middle of NOWHERE, Hickville USA (Indiana), and the closest store that sells pet food is about 35 miles away. The top brand they sell is dog chow. The closest PetSmart, PetCo, or other large chain store is almost 75 miles away from her.

It's either a health issue or simply because you allow her to eat that much. I have 2 dogs, one 60lbs, the other is well over 100 lbs and I don't go through that much food in 2 weeks, let alone 3 days. Take her to the vet, if that all checks out, put her on a diet, a few cups of food a day, not 10lbs.

If you're feeding your dog 10 pounds of food a day, You're its problem. You need some pet parenting classes. Hint: if you don't feed the dog that much, It CAN"T eat that much. I would think 3/4 to 1 pound twice daily would be plenty for a German Shepherd 50-80 pounds, and thats liberal.

I would take her to the vet, just to rule out illness first. I would also look at the quality of food I was giving her. Lower quality foods have more fillers like corn that can be hard to digest, therefore, the dog has to eat more to get the nutrition it needs. Find a food that has whole grains like oats and barley in it, as the satisfy longer. Its like if I eat Frosted Flakes for breakfast, I'm hungry 30 minutes to an hour later, but if I eat Kashi Go Lean Crunch I'm not hungry until I sit down for lunch.

I would also set up a feeding schedule to feed her several times throughout the day. If we go all day with out eating, we're starved by dinner time and our body tells us to eat eat eat and over eat. Feed your dog several smaller meals throughout the day to keep her metabolism up and to keep her from going into starvation mode.

I currently have a large boned, 85lb female German Shepherd and she eats 2 cups dry in the morning and 1 cup in the evening. 10lbs of dog food a day is way too much. Have she been checked for worms?

because your over feeding her. some dogs will eat until the food is gone...does this mean they are still hungary? NO!

if it is a poor brand or food bought from walmart or anyplace like that it may not be meeting her nutitional needs.
I raw feed mostly it something to look in to, or just a better brand of dog food. like Timber wolf or something like that.

I would make a vet appointment. make sure there is no med problem.

If your dog is eating 10 pounds of food a day you really need to get her in to see the vet. If she isn't severely obese then there is definitely something medically wrong with her. If she is obese then she needs a diet badly. Even highly active dogs don't eat 10 pounds of food a day.

That's alot of food......you sure she doesn't have worms. My dog is a dingo and would eat till her stomache would burst, but I am her carer and provide her with what she needs, so it's up to you. 1 and a half cups of dry food and 4 table spoons of wet should be enough and don't forget bones for her teeth.

Because dogs are gluttons. That is far too much food to feed your dog.Unless it is getting heaps of exercise. You don't say what food? The normal ration of food for a big dog is around 5lbs a day, and your feeding your nearly double that. You will kill it at this rate. You should be ashamed of yourself.

WHAT? I own TWO giant breeds and my dogs do not go through that much food. Are you sure she goes through 30 pounds of food in 3 days???

So, you are saying she eats 10 pounds of food a day? She must be extremely overweight and I would be very concerned about bloat. Dogs are only supposed to eat between 2-3% of their body weight a day.
