go volunteer at the local dog shelter/ humane society. You can take care of the dogs without the responsiblity of ownership. Maybe you parents will see how much you love dogs and are capable of caring for them, and get you one of your own.

Hey darls!
Well unfortuntally it's your parents decission, but while your working on getting them to say yes, how bout you look really responisble, first do some thinks around the house to earn you some pocket money for its food, make sure you have secure fencing so he cant escape, look up breeds of dogs because you want a breed that suits your lifestyle. It is hard but once you have earned money and fixed the fencing show your parents what your willing to do for this puppy. But you also have to understand that a puppy is not going to stay a puppy for ever they do grow and you have to be willing to love it just as much. and dont forget to teach it basic tricks so it's not a devil otherwise your parents wont let you keep it. how bout a rabbit or bird just for now then work them, trust me it always works for me. Good luck.

Why not? If your parents don't like dogs I would say you need to wait until you are on your own, but if they are worried you are not mature enough ot care for a pet...
prove to your parents you are ready. By showing them you are responsible and will take care of a dog, they would be much more likely to be convinced that you should have a dog.
I think it would be great for you to volunteer at a local no-kill shelter, it shows maturity and you could give attention to some deserving pooches:)
Good Luck!

Dogs are a lot of work so you should wait until you're older and have your own place.
Your parents probably know that most kids will not take care of the dog and lose interest so they end up taking care of the dog.

Get a fish or something smaller, maybe even a tortoise! :D
When they see that you can look after something well, they might consider letting you get one.
Is your house right for a dog? Is there enough room? If not, that could be why they said no!

Well, if you're willing to pay for the food, vet bills, take it for walks, and care and love it, they might just give in. Then show that responsibility, to let them know that you have what it takes. Now if you're not up to all of the above, then i would'nt recommened having one. Good Luck!!

lol unlike the other 2 questions I obviously know you don't wanna wait till your "out on you own." So I would suggest tryin to show myself more responsible. ( feed other house hold animals and plants, water plants and animals, ect ) then try saying " Well i can take care of all this i think i can take care of another pet" lol

Oh that sucks. All you can do is wait.
That is... unless you show them that if they get one you'll take such good care of it they won't even notice they have one. (which is sometimes harder than it looks .) Say that it would make you happy and you'll focus more in school if you have something warm and fuzzy to go home to.seemed to have worked on my parents.

explain to them that you are very responsible to handle a dog and explain how you would take car of it all the time and they wont have to worry about taking care of the dog only you do.
