Kind of. It isn't what I would refer to as 'normal', but it does happen.

There have been occasions where my two dogs have been bickering, and my cat strolls up, smacks them both, and walks away, leaving confused two confused dogs in his wake.

Then again, there have also been occasions where my cats have been arguing, and my dog runs up to them, stops just before he'd crash into either cat; and goes "RUFF!", startling both of them out of their argument, and then he comes strolling up to me with a satisfied look on his face; like "See mom? I told them we didn't have to resort to violence. I was right mom. Huh? See? I was right. Wasn't I? Mom? Mom? Are you paying attention? Mom?"

Then again; maybe I just have eccentric pets. :-p.

Good luck!

Well if the cat has not acted as the Alpha-cat at all and/or hardly. The cat may just be fed up with the dogs and one of them or both ticked the cat off thus causing the cat to do that. I have dogs who do that everyonce and a while, sometimes they'll just get into little tuffs to just figure out whos Alpha. Just make sure the animals are okay afterwards.

How did she/he break it up? Did the cat get between the dogs and bully one or the other until they backed down? NOTHING cats do is "normal;" yet paradoxically everything they do is "normal"--for them. If your cat has a close relationship with the dogs and saw them as "kittens" fighting, it would be normal for a female cat to "swat" her kittens that weren't behaving. I'd say we need a bit more info, just for curiosity's sake! BTW I have a cat that loves bananas; like I said, "normal" is relative for your particular 4-legged friend. :-)

My aunt has cats and they don't like disruptions from the present moment or any time in their schedules. Normal. I have a small Jack Russell Terrier and when she was two, there was a cat in the middle of the cul-de-sac. She darts out, blazing to the cat who is minding its own business, licking itself. When my dog meets the cat, all the cat does is raise one paw and hiss... my dog comes back, ears down. Cats can stand up.

Our cat Daisy was "the queen of the house." If she heard ruckous, from the dogs or other cats she'd be there in two seconds flat to see what was going on and intervene if needed.....it was crazy. She was a great cat.....we had to put her to sleep the day after christmas last year...miss her. Now her daughter seems to have "stepped up" and taken on her role and does the same thing she did. Weird.

Yes, normal. They'll go get a few hits in when there's a squabble especially if one of the animals involved is one they're not that fond of. They think they can get a free hit in on them and retreat since THEY didn't start the fight and they don't intend to finish it.

my neighbor had a dog that would do that with the cats. We also had a dog that would attack the other dog if we scolded her because she thought she was the boss. Pets can be like kids, your cat probably doesn't like her siblings to be angry
