Could there be a better word than eschatology for the study of the "end times"?

It sounds like what it is, the study of crap.

I know, it's a horrible word. Usually greek words make for fine technical terms, but in this case, "eschata"... Nah. However, we shouldn't let the fundies redefine the word either. It's the study of "last things" not "end times". They've corrupted its usage just like they've corrupted the word "prophecy" (nothing to do with predicting the future - it's about speaking truth to power, sometimes that involves predicting consequences. But predicting consequences is a whole different thing than predicting the future.)

The only way the 'end times' can be studied, is if they already happened.
