No, I don't think HMS made a mistake! Rick Hendricks is very smart. Regardless of who is the best driver Jr. is the most Marketable of all the drivers at this time! Even if he never wins a race at HMS he will still make them more money in the long run! How many of you have already ran out and bought the overpriced #88 stuff? If you were a sponsor who would rather put your money on to sell your product? Who here thinks HMS is not getting a cut of all that money?
This whole thing was about money not driver talent!
That's the whole of it!!

Not really, Jr's driving abilities aren't all that shabby either. TBone, Jr was doing pretty well at Sonoma and the Glen this year, before a late pit stop at Sonoma and the motor blowing at the Glen. Not everyone can be Smoke, and the Gordons on the road courses. Pocono he finished second after replacing the shocks not too bad, can't run a lick at Dover, dude he's won there before. Keep this in mind Jr has as many wins at Phoenix than he does at Daytona, and almost as many wins at Richmond than at Dega. So which means he can win in a plate race, short track, one-mile flat track, cookie cutter(ok Atlanta's really not a cookie cutter, but still). And the whole high groove thing really doesn't hold water either, he's always run up there in fact it seems to be a trait of DEI drivers, Waltrip always ran up there, Jr runs up there and so does Truex. In fact after the first Michigan race, Carl Edwards in the post race interview, said this about Truex, I ran the high line for the last 20 laps, Martin was up there all day, he's got some big ones to be doing that(or something to that effect). One more thing, the decline of DEI has not been a sudden thing, it really started about 2005 and has gotten gradually worse.

define rivalry, please? long status unwell-will could be my definition. Busch v. (field) is the terrific answer. Busch is the terrific polarizing determine. He has been dominant with race wins so everybody has to love or hate him. very few human beings have that variety of acceptance in racing. extra maximum drivers the familiar public stable will is larger than the hating team. For Busch he's the choice. i could think of the haters win 2 to a million! Jr. could be like this yet he does not contend sufficient all and sundry to be proper to the communicate!

But "snake" my friend. I understand what your saying but when it comes down to it. Jr had that little white line every year at DEI except this year and really couldn't get it done. The fact is he is only good at a few tracks and except for this year DEI motors and the whole organization as a whole were top notch for several years. Think about. He can't race a road course for the life of him or Dover or Pocono or Homestead or New Hampshire to name a few. I'm not going to get into the whole "who is better deal " because I know who is more talented but I don't think it's fair for DEI to be ridiculed by JR fans for one bad season of motors. If you were to rehash this whole Jr to Hendrick deal 2 years ago before he asked for ownership JR fans would be on the opposite end of the spectrum and you can't tell me it's not true.

I don't know it's just hypocritical for Jr fans to ridicule DEI after all Theresa put into tryng to get him a championship.

Aside from that Im ready for championship weekend dude. My boy "smoke" needs a win before seasons end.

Think about this "snake". What if next year is the off year for HMS and the on year for Rousch? Thats the way it happens. HMS doesn't dominate every year. A couple seasons go to JGR then HMS then Rousch. HMS may have the crap equipment next year. What then?

And for ANITA. You only think he's a pretty good driver??? Come on darlin quit the denial. "Shrub" is an excellent driver.

thumbs up wedge

Kyle is a good and will be great driver but he has no teammate skills at all. Hendrick is looking at the big picture of winning with all his cars and not wrecking his on drivers. You don't get in his position without looking ahead. Jr is also very marketable just like his teammates. It is a money driven sport and HMS has got a good crew with all 4.

You hit it on the nail head. Its all about money, the sponsership dollars because just by the facts kyle busch is so far better than jr who is living off of daddys name period

Yes, Kyle is a pretty good driver....Jr is definitely going to end up being the best he is still going to be in a Chevy...Kyle is going to be in a Toyota, theres going to be some growing pains for JGR next yr.. HMS is going to come out ahead big time with Jr there big time...

Go Dale Jr & HMS in 2008

Market Value.. Rick comes out a billionaire,no mistake's there, for sure. But when Jr. realizes what that little white-line is painted for, down on the apron... Jr. is gonna be ''HELL'' !!!
Go Roush / Fenway in '08' !! GET-R-DONE !!!

kyle busch compared to dale jr? no question i would pick dale jr,just wait and see,if you put a good car under jr there will be no stopping him.busch may be good at some tracks but if you look back recently had it not been for 6 engin failures jr would have won a few races this year. put him in a hendrick car he will top both kyle busch and jeff gordon combined
