Use head lice shampoo thats what I use when I wash rescued puppies instead of flea shampoo. It works much better.
Head lice shampoo actually has the same exact stuff in it, except head lice shampoo has more, and flea shampoo has more water. When I used to use flea shampoo, I usually had to use it more than once on the same dog/puppy. When I use head lice shampoo, I only need to use it once and the fleas are gone.

My Basset Hound had a bad flea problem a couple of years ago, and what I did was first give him a bath using some flea shampoo, and then use some of that Frontline flea and tick repellant that you get at your vet's office. It can be more expensive than the one's you can buy at Wal-Mart, but trust me, it definitely works! Plus, it is healthy. Also, you must make sure to wash and clean where your dog sleeps (like blankets or dog beds, etc.). There's also this carpet sprinkle that you can buy in the isle where you find Resolve and other carpet sprays that you sprinkle all over your carpet, let it sit for 30 minutes, and then vacuum it up, and that's supposed to get rid of any fleas that may be in your carpet (that have jumped off your dog...lol). It's not that difficult, and it works!

fleas are so hard to get rid of that you really need advantage or the drops you apply to the dogs neck and back.collars work only around the head so the vet carries the best fleas killer around.i tryed shampoos and powder etc and finally i got enough from the vet to treat 3 dogs and 1 cat and it took care of the flea problem in a matter of a day or so.

Do you currently have fleas on your pets? If you are having flea problems you need to have your dogs flea dipped and get them put on K9Advantix ( you have to wait 48 hours after bath/dip) to put it on them it is a spot on treatment that you put in between the shoulder blades. Every one has their own preference on what brands but I think this one is the best it repels fleas ticks and mosquito's How ever it does not prevent them from getting on the animal but when they do, when they go to bite the dog they die. Also bomb your house and wash all bedding, and vacuum everywhere thouroughly, empty right away. Fleas live in carpets, grasses, bedding and vacuum bags sewers ect... They only get on the dogs to feed. Once your pet has introduced fleas into your house then they are there and will start breeding rapidly. That's why you want to bomb your house, get dogs flea dipped by professional groomer, have yard sprayed, wash bedding and vacuum all in same day to keep fleas away. The real way to do it!!! Good luck to you!!! P.S. Also keep them on the flea treatment (K9Advantix) monthly to prevent re-infestation, and if your dogs have fleas they will more than likely have tape worms too. Tape worms are little worms that dogs get by in jesting a flea when they go to relieve them selves by biting the area that was bitten. Once the flea is in-jested the flea larvae forms and then you have the tape worm, they look like little white grains of rice in dogs stool. Take to vet for meds for tape worms if you find them or have the stool tested by vet!

You should go with Frontline. I currently have three dogs and the stuff always works. Just follow the directions and the fleas will be gone in no time. Good Luck!

usually pet stores and veterinarian offices have some good brands of flea removal AND preventative. And like the person before me said, Frontline is the way to go.

get flea bath..its just a shampoo for a dog and wash them really really REALLY good and leave it on for 5 minutes while it works its magic. the fleas will literally just start dying and fall off.

then get something like frontline...its like a flea gel and you put it on your dogs neck and back and it will keep it from getting fleas after the bath..

we also got our dog a flea collar and that has worked too.`

first, wash the dog with dawn (dish detergent). apply the soap from the neckline down so the fleas don't go into the dog's ears when you start washing him/her. the dawn will kill the fleas but not the eggs. then, order frontline or advantix. they're monthly treatments. go to petmeds.com. they're pretty decent there.

Frontline works the best for my dog. Hartz didn't do a thing.
Also giving her a bath in flea and tick shampoo helps when used with the frontline....and lots of vacuuming of your carpet and furniture.
