I can't even go out with my best friends for my 20th birthday!!! She gets mad at me when I even consider asking her if I can go out anywhere unless she can go to, which makes no freaking sense!! I'm a 2nd year college student, I get invited to parties EVERY weekend!!! And it's so embarrassing to say that I can't go because of my mum. My dad sits on his butt and agrees with everything she says as if he has no mind of his own. The craziest thing is that she says that if I go out, I'm gonna get raped, and she "recommends" that I stay home because when I go out and come back home I will meet my bags packed and I would have to leave "her" house!
Soo... what can I do for her to LOOSEN UP???!!!? I want to do this without having her to be mad at me for centuries as she is so capable of doing... BTW I am her youngest daughter, I have an older sister who just got married in Feb. 2007. I am my father's only child, if that helps any...

We cannot afford to pay for college dorms, and for these dorms since I am under 21 I need parental consent... of course that's a lost case...

Aren't there apartments you could rent near the college? You would have to get a job, but it is well worth it. How can you ever learn to make decisions if your mom tells you what to do as an adult? I'm a strong believer that college is not only for book smarts. It's a great chance to learn to stand on your own two feet, manage money, decide how late to stay up, balance responsibility and fun, how to pick friends that support you.

You need to have a heart to heart with your folks, and be prepared to move out if necessary. My dad forbid me to go away to college but I went anyway, against his wishes and without any financial help. You must find your own path and if staying at home under these restrictions is what you choose to do then that is your decision, but also, you are old enough to move out, and begin your own life. Good luck.

Easy!
Get your OWN place and pay your OWN way!
Works EVERY TIME!
As far as parties, if you like hanging out with druggies and alcoholics and people who will drug your drinks so they can have sex with you, go for it!
Why not try church instead and hang out with people your mom won't worry about too much.Bring them home to meet your family, have the Pastor over for dinner.
The United Pentecostal churches are great.

Sorry.. but I think it is time to be on your own.

The problem is with your mother, she is scared to let you grow up. You will have to let her steam about it and get on with things. You should try to get into the dorm at the school.

You are not living life if you are under her "watch" all the time.

College will be the funniest time of your life, get out and enjoy things.

She will get over it.

Hmmmmmm....

You do have to abide by their rules while you live in their house.

You might be able to loosen your mom up by doing the following:
Make an appointment with a therapist because you are "depressed". Make your mom go with you to your appointments. Explain your situation with the therapist. The therapist ought to be able to explain to your mom why your mom's actions are wrong.

It sounds as though you are still looking for your parents approval along with their support.
Stand on your own two feet and become an adult.
Your parents feed off of what you do and say.
Time to mature.
