DONT blow 8000 on a used car that will be just as reliable as a $2000 car!

The 8000 car will not have any warranty left on it, neither will the $2000 car...

when the $8000 car has to go to the dealer (because the newer car computers are super sensitive and only the dealer can reset these codes) its going to cost you a bunch of money. The $2000 car will probably be made before 1996 and have the easier computer and cheaper parts, and anyone can fix them.

When you finance the $8000 car, you will be required to pay FULL coverage insurance!! ($$$), the $2000 car , probably not, AND if you do, not for more than 2 years for sure!

What car are you going to get? A gas hog that only gets 25mpg in town? or are you going to look for a *DIESEL*l volkswagen (Jetta, Golf, Beetle) that gets 42 in town and 50 on the highway? like this one...

NO tune ups, only oil changes! No electronic computer crap!
(dont believe me about the computer crap? hang out here for a while!)

everybody here says Honda Toyota Honda Toyota, but frankly, Japanese cars are easily stolen! It only takes a big screwdriver to twish the ignition lock (which is made of cheese!) and start the car.

What can you get for $8,000? You're probably going to get someone else's headache! If you try for a better car ($12K range), you'll probably get a good car, but can you afford the insurance and payments?

I think the first thing you need to do is put a budget together. Find out what you think you can afford for insurance and payments. Then take that number and split it in half, because we always overcompensate when we really want something. Go to kbb.com and find out what the retail blue book will be for the car you want. Don't go cheap, because you'll get a junker! Go to a franchise dealership and pay a little more, but you'll get peace of mind. You also need to negotiate like crazy, so bring someone who knows what they're doing (has bought at least 4-5 cars from dealers). You'll also need a co-signer, so time to hit up mom and dad.

Good luck with your car.

Either way make SURE for 8 grand you get a WARRANTY.
If you buy "AS IS" that is their way of saying"we bought it at an auto auction and it may or may not be junk and we wont guarantee it, but we WILL take your money...ALL OF IT!

You will need a co-signer to help you get credit established.
