hi:

I would like to lift a 2004 Ford Taurus at the jack notch and put the car on a stand for oil change. Where is the spot I can put the Jack spot safely? The Jack notch is not wide enough to accommodate both the jack and the stand at the same time. Also, let me know of a pictorial manual that supports your answer. Thank you.

Best regards,
Mansour

Is there a Jack and Stand combination or a Jack with a lock that once the car is on the jack it can be stabilized, knowing that the only spot to use cannot accommodate both a jack and a stand at the same time?

On my Taurus and Mercury Sable I always use the sub frame where the lower a-frame enters the frame rail.

I've found that it's much safer to use the plastic ramps sold in Walmart. It saves jacking your car up with a floor jack, sliding substantial cast iron and steel floor jack-stands under the frame.

The ramps are easy and you have more space to move around underneath the car oil pan and changing the oil filter. If you have the 12 valve 3.0 motor you know that the oil filter's in a tough spot. With jack stand in the way on the right hand side they are right in the way. The ramp plan leaves no obstacles in the way. The 24 valve motor oil filter is in front of the front cross member slightly to the right. Much easier to get to.

The official lift points on a Taurus in just in front of the rear wheels and the front lift point is located a few inches behind the front wheels under the rocker panel for both. Of course this is the lift point when using the worthless jack inside the trunk to change individual tires. These lift points aren't worth a --- when changing your motor oil.
