Dogs help people just by being there. Loving, petting and caring for a pet helps keep a person mentally healthy and walking or playing with a dog is good exercise. There are dogs who train to help blind people, deaf people, people who can't use their hands for tasks or who have no sense of smell . I'm sure there are more ways that a well-trained dog can help people. But the thing all dogs do best is just be there with us.

Dogs are wonderful and very accepting of you no matter what. They don't judge you for what color your skin is, what your religion is, if you are a "beautiful" person or anything else. Every time they see you, they act like it has been forever since they have seen you and love to be loved. They will listen to your problems when you really want someone to just LISTEN to your problems and not really expect an answer. They are funny and entertaining and I would rather trust my dog than many people I know, my dogs don't let me down like some people have in the past.
This is just my personal opinion.

Dogs help humans in Many ways. I will give some examples, but there are a lot more than I even know about. Dogs help farmers by herding sheep and cattle. Dogs keep us company, and give unconditional love. They can relax you, lowering heart rate and blood pressure. They help people who have disabilities. There are seeing eye dogs, dogs who help people with Parkinson's disease, people who are in wheel chairs. They serve as police dogs. They can search and sniff out illegal drugs, illegal fruits, animals etc. They can sniff out missing people, or bad guys. They do search and rescue in a natural disaster. They alarm their owners of intruders, fires, ets. There are SO many ways animals dogs help people, and this is just a short list of all the things they can do.

Allot of ways there are seeing eye dogs for the blind. There are several different rescue dogs for the people in trouble such *** Newfoundlands they are trained to rescue people in water. Also they help us by giving us Love and attention as well as Some of us give to them. There are all sorts of things they do such as the dogs trained by the police to sniff out drugs, They are actually doing some kind of research NOW that dogs can detect Cancer in humans and also A WHOLE BUNCH I DID NOT LIST. They help us allot more than we do for them thousands of them get killed every month because of them being so called UN wanted pets at humane society's and animal shelters. People need to realize how much they actually do for us instead of what we do for them> Thanks for the question.

They are good companions, show you how to be responsible, gives you unconditional love, sometimes teaches people how to love, works as hearing when deaf, works as vision when they are blind, gets the phone, answers doors, works as hands and feet when someone doesn't have them, senses if you are going to have a stroke, seizuer etc. They are theraputic it's proven. Protects you in numerous ways, with one you are never alone. I guess the question could be "how don't dogs help humans?"

In sooooo many ways. They offer unconditional love and loyalty. There are search and rescue dogs, drug dogs, bomb sniffing dogs. It is a scientific fact that people with dogs live longer, have lower blood pressure and are happier! I could go on and on.

On a medical note, for the blind, deaf, and those without balance. My friend did her senior college thesis for psychology proving that dogs in a retirement help (socially and psychologically) the residents in their way of life.
