I run a lot and now that it's winter the heels of my feet are so cracked it's gross....I use lotion and I've had scrubbers/filers/ all that but they really don't do anything. Anyone used something that really works for cracked feet and not too expensive?

I use this Avon foot scrub (I can't really remember what it's called...) and I think it works really well. If this doesn't work, try putting on some lotion and then some socks and then go to bed. That will lock in the moisture. Try exfoliating before hand with a loofah or some pumice. Then all the new, fresh skin will get moisturized right away. In addition to these home treatments, I think a monthly pedicure at some cheap, one-on-every-corner type of places. They're like $15 to $25 I think. If the problem is less about beauty and more about health, then try seeing a podiatrist. Good luck and have fun!

some people go to a podiatrist to get that taken care of and some get all their nails done by a manicurist who also smooths the heels. But if you want to take care of it at home I'll give you directions for what I do. There are several different kinds of dermabrasive products on the market that will shread the dead skin like a pumice stone, or you can use nail files. Be sure to use the file on both sides of the crack in your heel, then put some medication in that crack like first aid cream or neosporine and then put some tape over that and let it heal overnight (sometimes it fixes itself overnight, sometimes it takes two nights). Sometimes rough hurting heels is caused by pounding your heels when you walk so think about walking softer when you walk. It's also caused by dry soaps, cold winters, etc. When you take a bath (on a warm evening or in a warm house) soak your feet and remove all the dead skin then dry off and put vasaline on your feet and put on some socks and then sleep with the socks on all night. By morning your feet will feel softer and doing that often prevents the ouchies.

I have used the Vicks and Vaseline.....both are messy. I found "Gold Bond" Foot Cream to be the best. It is in a blue squeeze tube and you will see results the next day (I usually soak them in the tub while bathing and file them before the cream). I use it at night...it's not messy. As a matter of fact, I do mosaic tile art for a living and the grout can really take a tole on my hands. I use this same cream on my hands without the leftover grease and residue. Try it!!

RESCUE BALM!!!!!!! It is made by Bee-Luscious. This WILL fix your dried and cracked feet. It heals and moisturizes better than anything else I have tried.

FYI: Vaseline will make it worse in the long run because it is petroleum and will damage skin cells!!!!!!

Soak them first in salt water and scrape the dead skin off then put vaseline on them overnight and cover with cotton socks or put Preparation H on them. Believe it or not. . . it works!
