Being as we're human, sometimes we need to have an image to attach to something that cannot be seen. For example, the heart symbolizing love. Personally, I think that arguing about whether God has a white beard is kind of a waste of time. It really doesn't matter - if it helps some people to picture him that way, I think that's fine.

I do.
The 10 Commandments forbid a graven image that might depict Him. The image itself has no inherent evil, but humans will worship anything, and that's a problem for God if we worship an image, instead of worshiping Him in Spirit and in Truth.

I do.
Well, the pictures I saw of Jesus (when I was a child) always depicted him as having fair hair and skin, with blue eyes. And if you look at the region where Jesus comes from, well, let's just say that - in general - people from Jerusalem were FAR from being that fair complected!

What bothers me more is Jesus portrayed as a skinny, sickly looking guy on a cross.
He was a carpenter, strong and muscular, probably tanned from the sun and the fact He was of Jewish lineage indicates a strong face, with olive skin.
Let's face it, Jesus (while on this earth) was a hunk! But He resisted EVERY temptation.

No I don't think so, unless it was something really disrespectful. I think you're thinking of Muslims and depictions of Muhammed, which is against the laws of their religion.

Doesn't bother me ... but what's He think of it? God has a sense of humor:
The handwriting one the wall, Book of Danial.

I don't really mind. I know that is not how he looked but if it helps people to strengthen their belief then I don't see the problem.

it's not like blasphemy, but it's kinda lame to try to physically show what God 'looks' like bc he can't be painted into a picture..
