that is, if you are serious, and not just seeking to justify what you have already decided to believe.

Why are the R&S atheists so preoccupied with debunking fundamentalist theology ( if you could call it that)? They are by any standard a fringe element of organized christianity that virtually no one including most christians take seriously. What's to debunk? They are less than 1% of two billion christians - most are catholic - and their "creationist" doctrine ( that the world is only 5000 years old) is considered laughable by all other christians. So what's to debunk? Shouldn't we be more worried about their distorting effect of foreign policy in terms of support for the occupation of Palestine, the invasion of Iraq, etc? Who cares about their crazy doctrines? Nobody,as far as I can tell except R&S atheists - who show little interest in their political power, now that an alliance has been forged between fundies and orthodox and /or conservative Jews.

I can't call this evidence, but one thing is for sure: The physical universe and its major aspects (energy, matter, space, time) have NEVER been shown to be able to create life on their own.
Life can easily manipulate much of the known physical universe.
The life force (that component of all living things referred to in some cultures as "spirit") cannot be isolated and measured.
Since we can measure all components of the physical universe, but can't measure the "spirit force" I think it is safe to assume the life force is NOT physical.
If not physical, then it may be possible that it is NOT part of the physical universe but a separate entity.
I like to think that: since the physical universe cannot create life, and if life is not part of the physical universe but can create change in the physical universe, then it may well be true that life CREATED the physical universe.

The Bible isn't evidence of Creationsm.
Does any text prove its content simply by being a book?

Science and evolution can take us as far back as the single celled organism. Now, what got the single celled organism to just wake up and start doing it's thing? I guess that's a question for the ages.
Science will figure it out someday (seriously).

Since when is a book of fiction considered "evidence?" Is the "Last of the Mohicans" evidence that Natty Bumpo really existed?
