I don't know much, I've read some Schopenhauer and extracts from The Upanishads but that's it. What is the difference between Buddhism and Hinduism?

The most direct and witty introduction to Buddhism -- the basics of Buddha's teaching and the elements of practice is Sylvia Boorstein's "It's Easier Than You Think."

Unlike so many books on Buddhism, this book is written by a highly-respected American teacher rather than a scholar. It's Buddhism 101, and fun.

Hi, Nagarjuna's Middle way is a great philosophical thinking in Buddhism. It explain why only relative truth exists in conditional existence, and why absolute truth is void of self-nature.

Jonah Winters of Reed College wrote a Bachelor Thesis on this topic. Take a look if you like philosophy.

You would understand the difference of Buddhism and all other religions if you could grasp the thinking.

You could say that Buddhism and Hinduism share the same relationship as Christianity and Judaism. An ancient religion, bound tightly to a culture (Judaism and Hinduism) gets modified by a single mystic (Jesus and Buddha) into a universal faith.
