Help with my shyness!?

I wanna be a singer! I'm 16 now, and I've been singing since I was 2, and writing since i was 7. But The only people that know i can sing is my best friend and house-hold family! Not even my boyfriend, and we've been together for a year! I think maybe its intimidation of other people and me being scared of what they would think and say! Can someone please help me overcome my fear? please, can you tell me some pointers that I could follow? Something... I mean this is my dream, but I'm scared of something for some reason... Help me please!

Fear is the worst enemy. When I teach I say Do not Fear Fear. Once I was same like you but I learned and practice and now I can talk anywhere on any topic.

Here is a secret what I did.
First I started talking in front of a mirror loudly and notice my face. Gradually I improve my face expression.
Then I started recording my conversation or speech while talking in front of a mirror. When I listened the recording I realized my voice pitch(up and down)is not good. Then I adjusted that. Finally I realized I can talk in front of mirror perfectly.
Then I ask my friends to listen to me. After doing this for few weeks I started this in front of my family members.
While I was doing this I also did writing on memo in bold words several times. I AM NOT SHY. I AM NOT AFRAID. I CAN TALK IN FRONT OF PEOPLE. NO BODY IS LOOKING AT ME THEY WANT TO LISTEN TO ME.
Another memo. I CAN TALK PERFECTLY IN FRONT OF PEOPLE. THEY LISTEN TO ME. THEY LIKE ME. THEY APPRECIATE ME AND ENCOURAGE ME.

So, what I did was for speech and talking in front of people. But if you do it for singing you can just change some words and apply the same formula.
I give you 200% guarantee I have told this to so many people and they all have succeeded.
Here is a latest success story of a 14 years old girl. She followed my instructions and won a prize in school song competition.

You should look for some formal opportunities to sing - maybe your school has a singing group or something you could try out for? Auditioning is nerve-wracking, but it's way easier to sing when people are expecting it. It would be weird if you just burst into song in the middle of class or something, so of course you don't!

Hey there! My advice is just to not think about it, just when you're listening to the radio with some friends or something sing along, when they comment on your beautiful voice it will boost your confidence! Another great thing to do is to [again] just not even think about it, just sing your favorite song or something, hum it in class or something...that's what I do!
My nervousness comes when I have like a solo or something, but I'm sure that singing whenever you feel like it will work.

I don't know that's how I am. Maybe u should imagine that u r in front of your friends when you sing in public. Good luck with the shyness because I know it's very hard to overcome. Maybe that's what you'll be remembered for if you become famous.

i am 50 years old and still will not sing around any body start now dont be scared the only time i sing is in the car alone dont let this happen to you just do it!!!

i have a lot of popular friends that i hang out with most of the time. i guess that makes me fairly popular too. I might be a nervous wreck on the inside, but when talking in front of a crowd or singing in front of people, or anythong like that, i just show as much confidence as i possibly can. just prove to others that u can be confident when ever you need to be, eventually that confidence will come naturally

just bite the bullet and put yourself out there. it gets easier every time, and eventually the fear goes away completely. as with anything in life, comfort in singing comes with time and practice.
