i do this all the time and absolutely love it. it makes the brownie a little more fluffy rather than heavy and oily. YUM! and much better for you.

it doesn't affect the taste so much-maybe alittle fruitier depending on the fruitiness of the a. sauce. but the texture-it makes it alittle more 'cakier' and less dense. use it as a 1:1 measurement (if it calls for 1 cup oil use 1 cup a. sauce.)

--make sure to use unsweetened a. sauce!---

plus! you reduce fats in the brownie (or whatever you are cooking) to make them lower in fat! :)

hope this helps you! =)

Pureed stewed prunes are the substitue for oil in recipes containing chocolate. This won't affect the taste.

You can also use baby food prunes.

Applesauce is best used as a substitute for oil in recipes not containing chocolate.

And no, the prunes don't make you poop.

Will depend on on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fresh fruit for me personally. It's tastier and gives you that little of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to minimize back on sugar and lose weight vegetables
