My fiance and i moved into his parents house about a year ago to save money. We have an indoor cat who remained in our part of the house and didnt interact with my soon to be inlaws pets much. However, their dog and indoor/outdoor cat (who have fleas) gave them to our cat. we have been trying to get rid of them for a couple months now, and nothing seems to keep them away! Well, we are moving out into a house of our own, and we do not want the fleas to follow! How can we get rid of them before we move?!?! HELP PLEASE!!

Try Frontline or Spoton both available from your vet. If these fail, which is unlikely, you could bath with flea shampoo. Fill the kitchen sink with tepid water and put the shampoo in the water then put in the cat, starting at the head shampoo the cat, then pour over jugs full of clean water and wrap in large white towel. You will then see all the dead fleas fall off. I would also get a flea treatment for you carpets, eggs will have fallen off your cat only to hitch a ride after they hatch. This is not easy to deal with but it can be done. Good luck.

Use a proper treatment, i.e from a vets. You need to be aware that nothing you can buy from a store is going to work.

Go to a vets and pick up some Frontline, Revolutionm, Advantage or Advocate for all of your cats. Also get a housespray. There is no need for your cats to have fleas, and certainly no need to take them with you to your new house.

i had the same problem. fleas cant live off of humans. so when there's just you and the fleas, the fleas will die. go to the vet get your cat on frontline and move. the fleas cant live on you and they can live on your treated cat. i would also go to walmart and get Borax and sprinkle that on the new carpet about an hour or so before you vacuum it worked wonders. I'm guessing that the dog wasn't treated for fleas... good luck and enjoy your new home

I tried everything, and the only thing that worked is advantage form the vet. Easy to use, just squirt the liquid onto back of cats neck and that's it for 30 days ...or longer, if they don't bring more in from outside.

get a product known as RX for fleas... it works...you sprinkle it on your carpet.. work it in and vacuum.... it will stop the cycle.. put it in you new home also... i did it to my house in Seattle and it was effective for 6-8 months... but this was in the winter...I had 3 cats....And they were indoor/outdoor cats.
