HI, I know how to play a guitar, I have already played an acoustic. I am looking for a good quality guitar, from a good reliable company. I am saving up money but parents won't pay more than $500 for guitar and amp ( plus all the other stuff)
What guitar would be good for me?

Ibanez would be an excellent choice for you. You can pickup a little 8 to15 watt practice amp for around $100.00 and spend the rest on your Ibanez. If you get it at Guitar Center, they'll throw in a cord and a strap. You might consider getting your amp used because you'll probably want to upgrade in a year or so.

Re: Fender guitars...I love them too. I have two of 'em. But they're wrong for the kind of music he wants to play. Fenders don't crunch, palm-mute and drop-D well.

I like the Fenders. And a Fender Squire would be a great first electric guitar. (It was the 2nd brand of electric guitar I ever owned.) You can find lots of good small practice amps cheaply. Be sure to go to one of the big music stores like Sam Ash or Guitar Center. Or online MusiciansFriend.com.

Ibanez makes a good guitar.

Fender Mexicans and Japaense are also good
