i'm not sure if a have to take classes or not. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

You don't HAVE to take a class if you're doing it for a hobby...but anything that could help you learn to take better pics (wether it be classes or a good book on photography) might make photography more fun for you.

I agree with the idea about the camera club if you don't want to commit to taking a class. You will learn a lot more from other people telling you about (and showing you) their successes and mistakes. I took a class once, but most of what I know about photography I learned my mother and an uncle.

Buy, or get from library a copy of National Geographic's Photographers Field Guide. Super handy, well written by real professionals, and covers the basics of just about every subject/ scenario you can find yourself in with a camera in hand.

Investigate your local camera club; there's a wealth of information amongst their memberships.

1st you have to buy a camera ,then lessons sounds good.
