When you pull your upper lip away from your gums, if the web of skin is really long, they can snip it.
That is normally the cause of a gap between the two front teeth. A regular dentist can perform this.
And I don't know if it hurts or not.

I used to have a pretty big gap between my 2 front teeth, and as I got older, it disappeared. So seriously, one day I was talking about the gap in between my front teeth and someone said "You don't even have a gap!", so I looked in the mirror, and it was gone. So maybe you just have to wait awhile. Either that, or you'll have to get braces, and the price of that depends on your insurance and/or dentist.

It might cost nothing, if you're lucky. Try putting a small dental rubber band, like they use for braces, around those two teeth, up by the gum line where it's less noticeable. This may move those teeth together, if the tissue between them is not too hard. If it's going to work, you'll see some results in a week or two.
The bad news is that to keep them in their new positions, you may need to get a retainer.

much of this cost is the reason for there being a space.
See a dentist and find out how big the gap is and whether some treatment is in order. As someone wrote, as you get older this gap may disappear.

Have you tried rubber caulking, the kind used on tubs and bathroom tiles?
No, don't use that. I am only joking.
Call a local dentist's office and see if they know. They might be able to get you an estimate.
