NO WHERE. I agree with 'bookofis". She is speaking the truth, about what God approves of when it comes to dress, for both men and women, in the Bible.
God is just concerned that women do not dress in men's clothing, so wearing nice (women's) dress pants, is acceptable. This church is just trying to be in control, by making their own dress codes, but when people actually look to God's word, in the Bible ..for guidance and find out the truth what He will find acceptable in His eyes, you will find that He has very simple dress code requirements, for men and women. He gives people the freedom to dress any style they like, as long as its modest (not too revealing as to cause temptation (lust) and start trouble) and according to their gender.
It is good that you do not agree, for they are violating God's word, and setting their own strict dress guidelines. You have at least 3 people who do disagree (along with you) with this, also. Hint: Where two or more are gathered, and agree with God, the power of God is present.

It's not Biblical. The Levitical law states (or is it Deuteronomy?) that a woman "may not wear that which pertains to a man." However, at the time that was written, men and women dressed much the same way. There were no pants as we know them now. So how could wearing pants be wearing "that which pertains to a man"?
I seriously hate legalistic churches. That's one of the problems that I've started having with my own church. I love the people, and I love the fact that they follow the Bible for the most part. However, they also tend to take one verse and build an entire doctrine around it. I TOTALLY do not agree with that.
So there's my take on it.

Paul stated that the things that were written before time were written for our learning.
In The Law (Torah- or first Five Books of the Bible), it was stated that a woman should not wear the apparrel of a man and vica versa. If the whole idea is to be controling then why bother. If the idea is to be respectful to The Word? By all means. Unless those moms and daughters and sisters are out one day for a softball game with the whole church, I think it may be more suitable for them ALL to have pants on. LOL
There are quite a bit of things like that in the Old Testament but it is the Law and if we are trying to keep The Law for our salvation it is a lost cause. If we are trying to follow a guideline for our life, however, because we love The Lord and want to do our best to respect HIS JUDGEMENT and HIS LIFE STYLE? Then your church is on the way to doing some great things. I hope they are more concerned with who is a gossip or causes division or more relational things before those more physical things, though. You gotta be changed from the inside out, not the other way around.

I suppose the idea comes from the fact that BREECHES is mentioned 5 times in Scripture and it is always a mans cothing (underwear actually), it is directly linked to our word britches, trousers, etc. anything with a BREECH bewteen the legs, women are not to wear that which pertains to a man, Deu 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto Yahweh.
Now the stranger thing is, you will never find where a "skirt" is worn by a woman either, but only men.
NOW, the thing you may want to confront them on is this, 1 Corinthians 11. Women ARE TO WEAR HEAD COVERINGS according to that section. Be VERY careful to LOOK up the words translated "covering" or related words, at there are different words being used that are not shown in the English translations.
If you think clothing DOES NOT MATTER to Yahweh, then why the passage in Deut. 22:5. He seeks to STOP THE CONFUSION, and today's world and its religions seek only to attempt to justify CONFUSION as you seem to be opting for in your sanctimonious IGNORANCE and condemnation within your false religious PAGAN SPIRIT which needs to be cast out of you. I bet you PAINT YOUR FACE as well. Something Yahweh said was also wrong.

It states in the Bible that women should wear women's clothing, not that they should wear dresses, blouse and skirts. Also, men should not wear women's clothing. The pants I wear are not men's clothing. BTW, men in biblical times wore robes and so did women they were just different.
Are the men in your church wearing robes? Are the women required to dress as Mary did?
Deuteronomy 22:5 A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.

I personally believe that women that are going to minister really need to dress modestly, especially if they are young and cute. Men are very much attracted to the physical. I would not want any man looking at my body when I am trying to speak about Jesus. We are not suppose to look and act like the world anyway. We are better than that, we are children of the King, the Bride of Christ.

There are times in Western history when it was considered unmanly to wear pants - "real" men wouldn't be seen in pants - so I don't know where that idea comes from.

If they are looking to enforce a dress code, I hope that they also enforce a dress code for the male paritioners.
If people were required to dress in compliance with the bible, wouldn't people come wearing toga-like outfits???

It's another one of those man made rules trying to make it like god wants it that way, theres no such scripture in the bible. i wonder what religion would do in 3rd world countries where people hardly wear any clothes at all? Would God accept them? It's all about you belief in Jesus Christ nothing else, I pray in bed with just my under ware on is that acceptable?
