I've always been afraid of presenting and every since my panic attack last year i've been deathly afraid of going up in front of the class, but if I don't i'll fail my classes. I don't have trouble talking when it's just my friends, but when it's the whole class I freak out. I've tried singling out people in the crowd and that still doesnt help. How can I face my fear and pass my classes?

You're going to pretend. You are the CEO of a large corporation and you're giving a speech to the Board. You are J-Lo, announcing her baby to the crowd. You are the President, reading the state of the union. Choose anyone you know that is confident and at ease speaking publicly--Jerry Seinfeld doing standup.

Pretend you are they. Put your shoulders back and act, act like they would. Make the audience believe that you really are as at ease as you seem to be. You are the only person who has to know that you are nervous.

When my daughter had her first solo in high school choir, she faced the same problems. I told her to pretend she was an entertainer, trying to get the audience's attention and keep it on her until her song was done. Move like a singer, open your eyes, exaggerate your words...

Can you see the concept?

You'll be fine. (Do you have meds for panic attacks? You might take 1/2 or 1/4 of a pill just to mellow you).

i use to have the same problem, and I almost didnt graduate high school because of it. now I realize, getting up and presenting is part of the grade and I NEED that grade. I think to myself, what is worse, not getting the grade that I need to move on in my education. or knowing that I let something like fear of presenting get in my way. Think to yourself, this is my grade..... and i need it.
good luck,

well u just have to do it and dont worry about embarrassing ur self almost every one is going to be nervous maybe even more than u. and if ur going to have a panic attack just hold it in until ur done then freak out as much as u want in the bath room. and when ur presenting search for the safe faces . it will make it less hard.

The answer is given in the question, as often happens. Face the fear, which means go into the fear.
