I'm in college and I'm a girl. My parents won't let me move out. I have talked to them about this matter very often. And they still disagree with me. They are very religious and they said that Jesus is coming back soon and he wants us to stay together as a family. I have had two unsuccessful attempts to move out. One: I left when I went to college one day. I slept in the girl's dorms. Then, they offered to talk to me about it. I accepted. We ageed to let me leave. However, my parents tricked me and didn't let me leave. They kept me in the house. I still went to school though. Two: I told my mom when i was at school that I was going to move out. She didn't want me to. So, she and my two sisters held me in the car and brought me back home. They took my cellphone and stripped me down to my underwear. My dad, mom, and sisters kept watch over me. They wouldn't even let me leave my room. I had to skip the semester because of this. Now, this semester, they let me back in college.

My parents always watch my every move. They won't even let me talk to people. They say that everyone is evil except us. My brother used to be in this same situation, but he put his foot down and left. He has his own apartment now.

I want to move into the dorms next semester. I don't have a job because my parents won't let me work. They say that God doesn't want anyone to work for anyone. The financial aid I get from college goes directly to my house so that's out of the question.

Thanks for all of your answers guys. I decided to move out. I'm going to stay in the dorms and get a job and pay for my own college tuition.

You need to be strong and stand your ground. If you can you should call the police as this is a form of abuse and kidnapping. What are your parents thinking? They should be locked up. Try and get yourself a help network. There must be somebody at college that can help you.

omg, you need to get some help for your parents. your life is just getting started and not off to a very good start at that. i do not usually ever go against family, but consider your age. to old to be controlled like this, for sure. if possible, get a job, save enough to move out, maybe with your brother for a little while. there is no future for you if you stay in the same house as your parents. don't hate them, ever. some day they will hopefully get some help in dealing with THEIR problem that they have.
good luck

Get a good job, move out, and enjoy life. They may not let you leave but it's your own free will since your are an adult now. The police might help because any one has the choice to move out and should if they want if they are an adult.

It might seem hard right now, but if your parents are paying for your College costs and you have not made any plans on how to pay them on your own, you might have to stay until you graduate.
Time goes by quickly, soon, you will be an independent woman, working towards a successful life of your own.
Good luck.

Just move out! You have to do what is best for you. Just as long as you don't lose focus of your relationship with God you will be fine. Your parents are way to protective. God made us to make our own decisions because He didn't want to control us. God will love you and forgive you for whatever you do, your parents should too. It's up to you to make that decision and move out. You are clearly not happy with the way things are right now, so fix it.

alright im not trying to be mean about you family, but they seem a little weird. If they held you in the car I would go to the cops. Your 20, which means your an adult and you can do what you want without their consent. They shouldn't be able to control you.

ok it sounds like what your parents are doing is a form of kidnapping. i understand that they want you to be safe, but this is outrageous, you are an adult and no longer a kid, go to the counselor of the school and let them know the situation and hopefully they will help you in finding housing and then having a one on one meeting with you, your parents and the counselor. good luck to you with controlling parents.

are they paying for your college? if so ...move out..your way past the age to do so...get a job so you can pay for college.
if you feel that you cant pay your way through college..then you will have to suffer the rules while living in their house and they are supporting you ..especially with education..that is NOT cheap.
good luck

Call the police for help moving. What they are doing is illegal. They HAVE to let you go, and they have no choice in the matter.
