I've only recently heard of them but Yeah they are as far off base as they can be.
As far as never trusting christians, I don't blame ya and I am one!! You cant trust anyone these days, at least not till you know the discerner(Holy spirit) personally. Best thing a person can do is forget all preconcieved notions, sit down with God's word, and do bussiness with Him. God is the author of truth not the church, or a preacher. Open your heart to God and thru that faith he will lead you to truth.

Okay, for the LAST TIME:
1. The Westboro Baptist Church is not affiliated with the Baptists. Baptists want nothing to do with them, and have denounced their doctrine.
2. With millions of professing Christians in the world, how can ANYONE think that what the WBC believes, with their less than 100 members, is valid?
3. No one will deny that there are bad ones amongst all groups. However, the WBC is not a good argument, because there are so few of them...and most of them are related by blood or marriage.
4. How much good (or harm) can less than one hundred do against so many Christians, other than give us a bad name?
Christians continually denounce the actions and the doctrine of the WBC, and it's not enough. What will it take to convince people that the WBC is NOT accepted by mainstream Christianity?

There are alot of very kind loving Christians that love people no matter what the sin. We have all sinned and need Jesus and His salvation. God is love, not hate. We need to stand up against sin, but always have open arms to the sinner. I was a wonderful sinner before I came to Jesus, but I was blind. I did not understand what was going on and even how to quite sinning. Jesus gives us the power to stop and become new. I hope that you get to meet someone like the lady that lead me to Jesus. She was so kind and never put me down. She loved me, and it was the first time I had ever really felt loved by another human being. She was a blessing to my life, I will neve forget her.

I don't have to read your link, I already know about the Westboro Clan. The head of the family is a mad and cruel man.
I think all people are offended by these creeps, religious or not.

Every group has its radical faction. This is one of the more radical that call themselves christian, but have forgotten the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians.
