After his downfall, he wasn't given a job by God. Instead, satan takes on the job of his own free choice, to be the accuser of the brethren. Note that satan is definitely not in charge of Hell, either -- and, in fact, there is currently no such place as Hell.

Jesus says the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy people.
He also roams around like a roaring lion seeking some Christian to devour. Jesus calls him the father of lies, a murderer, a thief, the deceiver, Antichrist, the spirit of error, the father of those who do not belong to and cannot understand God and God's Word. The bible says he is the god of this ways and system of the world. He blinds the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see and understand the Gospel. He takes away the Word of God from the hearts of those who are hard hearted and do not want to hear. Sin originated from the devil. He is the enemy of God and God's people. He hates all human beings including his own children. He counterfeits what God does. He performs signs and wonders to fool people and make them think it's God. He wants to be worshiped and is by all who belong to him whether they realize it or not. He is a master of deception and the embodiment of evil. He has many demons working with him. Pride is his number one character trait and that is why God hates pride because all unbelief has its root in pride. He knows the bible better than all people put together and he knows who Jesus is.

I think that he was originally an Angel that took peoples praises to God, but he got upset because all those praises were going to God and he wanted people to praise him. So he started taking some of the praises for himself. He was also supposed to be one of the most beautiful of all angels(not the guy with horns that he is depicted of today) And i think he was also a warrior angel too. I believe these things are in other scripture and not specifically in the bible but im not sure.

Jesus says that the thief (satan) comes to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10) In the book of Revelation he will, through the anti-christ and false prophet, try and take over the world.

Satan means "Accuser" He is always accusing mankind of everything we have done in our lives. He has given himself the job of destroying mankind at any cost. Read the book of Job. It will describe this aspect.

As far as God giving him a specific job....None. He was cast out of heaven.

Satan has no Job after the war in heaven the rebellion Satan waged. Him and his followers were to be casted out of heaven to earth and their Satan and his angels are to dwell walk among the earth until Jesus comes back. Satan Knows what he has done and he knows he is to be condemned in Hell, He is jealous of humanity because of the gift God has given them, and he is trying to drag as many humans downhill with him as possible because he don't want to be lonely in hell. According to the bible hell is empty as of now every person goes to heaven then Jesus at the end will separate the goats from the sheep/ goats being ppl going to hell and sheep going to heaven then He shall cast satan and all his followers to Hell, those who follow sin are followers of Satan cuz satan is sin himself.

His ultimate goal is to lead people away from the love of God, to lead them to fallacies which God opposes. Satan is also identified as the accuser of Job, the tempter in the Gospels, the secret power of lawlessness in 2 Thessalonians 2:7, and the dragon in the Book of Revelation. Before his alleged insurrection, Satan was the highest of all angels and the "brightest in the sky." His pride is considered a reason why he would not bow to God as all other angels did, but sought to rule heaven himself. The popularly held beliefs that Satan was once a prideful angel who eventually rebels against God, however, are barely portrayed in the Bible and are mostly based on traditions (see Lucifer). Moreover, in mainstream Christianity he is called "the ruler of the demons" (Matt. 12:24), "the ruler of the world" and even "the god of this world." (2Cor. 4:4). The Book of Revelation describes how Satan will be cast out of Heaven, down to the earth, having "great anger" and waging war against "those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus". Ultimately, Satan is thrown into the "lake of fire" (Revelation 20:10), not as ruler, but as one among many, being tormented day and night for all eternity.

the events preceding were he was jealous of God, and he wanted to be God, so he took a third of the angels and rebelled. hence the I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.' You see, Satan, was filled with pride, thinking he as the best, and better than God, which is why people say pride is a bad thing. It can consume some of us even to the point where we think we are better than God.

He doesn't have a job. He wasn't made to be a devil or something evil. He became Satan. The spirit creature who is the chief adversary of Jehovah God and of all who worship the true God. The name Satan was given to him because of his becoming a resister of Jehovah. Satan is also known as the Devil, because he is the foremost slanderer of God. Satan is described as the original serpent, evidently because of his using a serpent in Eden to deceive Eve, and for this reason “serpent” came to signify “deceiver.” In the book of Revelation, the symbolism of a devouring dragon is also applied to Satan.

All of Jehovah’s works are perfect; he is not the author of unrighteousness; so he did not create anyone wicked. (Deut. 32:4; Ps. 5:4) The one who became Satan was originally a perfect spirit son of God. When saying that the Devil “did not stand fast in the truth,” Jesus indicated that at one time that one was “in the truth.” (John 8:44) But, as is true of all of God’s intelligent creatures, this spirit son was endowed with free will. He abused his freedom of choice, allowed feelings of self-importance to develop in his heart, began to crave worship that belonged only to God, and so enticed Adam and Eve to listen to him rather than obey God. Thus by his course of action he made himself Satan, which means “adversary.”—Jas. 1:14, 15.

Well since god created satan and already knew in advance how he would turn out since he knows all things god did have purpose for satan and that was to be a foil unto him since it sells the story a little bit better don't you think?

dunno-never read the bible, which has to be a good thing because people who read the thing seem to think nothing but gloom...though i think you'll find the book is full of things god never actually said.like scenes in a play,or stories handed down through time, things got misquoted,by the prophets and translators who only wanted THEIR ideas of what god wanted to be known.God only loves, everyone, unconditionally. If you want the answer to this question,I suggest you read it yourself. x
