imagine for one moment all we have are each other, wouldn't it make sense for humanity to develop this idea of "God" that could represent the love inside us all for each other? the need to belong, the need to be accepted, could that not be translated as a metaphor meaning "God?" Just a thought..

Most definitely.

In the Christian canon, when Jesus died on the cross, thunderstorms, earthquakes, all sorts of natural upheavals took place with the rending of the "Holy Spirit" from his incarnate body. At that point, the spirit flowed out all over the world into every person.

Wonderful Leon Russell song, based on a proverb, says "Always speak kindly to your fellow man because he might be the Prince of Peace returning.

Buddhism has a similar belief, that any traveller you meet could well be the Buddha. Buddhism is a branch of Hinduism (as are the branches that worship Garuda and Krishna -- Vishnu is said to have come to earth 9 times and the tenth will be the end; Krishna was, I believe the seventh incarnation of Vishnu, an abstract God, the abstract God all people feel is there).

Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed all were on the earth at roughly the same time, as means of communicating the message of God to man, as a means of getting the word out, pre-television/radio. Each culture made of it what they did.

I understand the thought maybe I'd say that is what love means.

I can connect God only to Almighty God and not as a metaphor. So since all love comes from God then maybe in a broad sense what you say is true.

I thought kitty cats were a metaphor for the love inside us all. I mean, at least kittens don't flood the whole world killing nearly all of life on a whim. That shows to me that kittens truly do love us, unlike gods, and are a metaphor for all the love.

suited love desires and serves the perfect reliable of the different. Our perfect reliable is to have everlasting existence with God. God has made that achieveable by using His Son, Jesus Christ. Scripture says that even at an identical time as we've been His enemies, Christ died for us. Even at an identical time as we sinned against him, he nonetheless died for us. If that's no longer unconditional love, i don't be responsive to what's. It places all human suffering into attitude. lots of persons go through and are afraid to die, yet Christ, dealing with death, willingly laid down his existence, like a sheep to be slaughtered, so as that we would desire to have everlasting existence. Jesus is the word made flesh. He gave his very own existence for us. in actuality, God died for us, so as that we could existence constantly with him.

No. God is real, and without Him there would be no such thing as love, or any other emotion. Actually, nothing else, since He created ALL things. Wow! what a job that would be, and to keep everything running.

Altruism would be a better metaphor for the love inside us all in my opinion.

A good thought, but unfortunately, their is not enough love for each other in the horrible, hate filled world that we live in....your thought would be Nirvana!

Questions like this are just a cover- up for someone that is looking for an excuse to be a non- believer. Someone looking for an excuse to justify their own foolish atheism.
