Have any of you dedicated a day for prayer and spend the day in the presence of the Lord?
I am doing just such a thing on Monday. I felt a need to request the day off last Wednesday, and did so. That night, in reading an article in Pray! magazine, the writing was talking about taking a pray day each month, or at least each quarter. Immediately, I knew that was what I was to do with my day on Monday.
So, I will packing a light lunch, some water, my prayer notebook and Bible, and head out to Weedon Island for some quiet time in His creation with God. The enemy already tried to attack the day, having a mess start at work at the last minute on Friday, and I was considering going in, until I realized that I legitimately have the day off. By changing my plan, I would be putting work, the world, before God. The work can wait one day. God must be first.
So, have any of you taken a day for prayer? Or attended a prayer retreat?
God bless.

batgirl....of course you can. It wasn't my idea anyway. :) Ultimately, it was God's. I'm really looking forward to the time with Him.

Gwlech....that was not the intent, although I admit it could be construed as such. Honestly, I was just hoping to plant a seed in others to spend more time in prayer. I know we quite often put other things ahead of it. Myself included.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. After all, God did say not to boast, and it could appear as such, intended or not.
God bless.

Whitesha....I have vacation time each year, and I am free to use that time as I choose. If I choose to use it to spend with God, that is not their business, although I would not hide it from them either. I am not calling in sick, or taking time that I am not allowed.

This will be my first day spent this way as well. It won't be all sitting in silent prayer, I will also sing some of my favorite praise, and such as well. The place I am going is a beautiful preserve with paths through mangroves, and marshes, and so forth. It's a favorite place to bask in God's creation for us, and immediately came to mind to spend this time with Him there.

Yes, every Fri. evening to Saturday evening (sunset to sunset), I dedicate ONE day to the LORD, thy God, alone on a weekly basis, for not just all day praying, but for Bible reading/studying, praising Him thru singing songs, thinking heavenly thoughts (to completely be away from worldy things); taking time to call or e-mail family/friends and speak about God and what He has done for me in life, or sometimes do good things for those in need, on the Sabbath (God's day of rest). I keep that day holy, as He commanded in the 10 Commandments ..to work 6 days a wk, but rest and keep the 7th day holy, the Sabbath day. On this rest day, I do no work, but spend personal time with God, or thinking/praising Him with others.
Thru-out my work week (during the 6 days), whenever I am not thinking about my household work (take breaks), I take time to pray on a daily basis, anywhere and anytime I have time to do it, alone. My prayers are for God, alone. I may ask someone to pray for someone else, but not me. . .because I want people to pray for me, because they want to, not because I asked them to.

Where do you live where Pat is on tv and television on all stations.? He is only one one cable station here which is clearly for theists. The facts are that no one determines who prays or when. Obama decided to pray with Billy Graham as a way to placate fundamentalists who were upset about Franklin being removed for being too anti Muslim. Lions , and tigers and bears, Oh my. I do not think there is a law mandating that all must pray on National Prayer Day. Some can just feed a mud fish and think of their ancestors.

I think thats a great idea. It sounds really nice. I havent taken a day for prayer before, but i have thought a little bit about it. I dont think i would like prayer retreats though because the bible says to pray in private (I dont remember where) but if i remember right it says "Dont pray like the hypocrits for all to see but go into your room and close the door" It said something like that.
Enjoy your prayer

Our church will be holding a Revival next week and I'm sure
most all of us will make much of the time there praying.
Does this count? I prefer to pray several times each day,
but I believe this is the choice of the prayee. The important
thing is to think of Christ and what He did for us,and pray
about what I can do for Him until His coming.

What a great idea. I have never thought of doing it. I know they have prayer days at chuch, but have never heard of a personal day for prayer. satan is just like that to cause problems, but you were on your toes and knew what was happening. Good for you! I know that God will honor this day and use it to minister to you and others. God Bless you and have a great time. Tell Jesus I said hello.

I tried to pray and fast all day, but my attention wandered.
There is a stumbling block in me that says God knows what I am saying. He knew before me!!!
Also, he loves this person I'm praying for, more than any human ever could.
He knows all. He LOVES more. And I think, what can tel Him except my foolish human thoughts?
And he knows my thoughts, even better than I do! So what can I say?
I try to pray without ceasing, every day, but I am not satisfied with my efforts.
Why do I implore Him to bless, when blessing IS what He does!?!
Blessing is ALL He does. Our sins cause all the bad stuff, for which we try to blame God wrongly.
Hey! BLESSING is His thing!!!

I was under the impression that if you like to pray you can do so at anytime. What this sounds like is some sort of meditation. I hope your employer is alright with it, because if i were him i'd think it was a nice cop out from having to go to work and fulfill my responsibility as an employee.
