So that when we do come to Him, we come freely!

God wants us to make our own future, by working hard and planning well. God will guide and inspire us. Life is meant to be challenging, so as to bring out the most in human potential. Without free will, life would be boring, and purposeless. God wants us, to positively contribute to addressing, the serious problems we have on this earth, so that we all will have a better tomorrow.

Because he loves us
he did not make puppets or robots
what if we did not have a free will
that would mean we could not think for ourselves

Free will is something we are born with. Not something to be attributed to any god, Christian or otherwise.
