i always asked the same question .. coz its not only the pope who wears funny hats .. any other-religion figures have their own code of dressing & hats.. I believe its all a part of the 'show'. None of the prophets said wear this or that specific hat ,, i think they wear it so that it is distinquishable to any other thing there is .. so when u see the ' funny hat' u immediatly recognise .. ah yea .. so this is the pope .. if he was wearing a nike baseball cap for example, you wouldnt recognise him first of all and also you would look at him less importnantly.
