If you don't like you counter top, place the lip of the cap on the edge of it and slam down with the palm of your hand. Works every time but leaves huge gouges in the counter.

I've seen people use lights and cellphones, but everyone I know how does that ends up breaking them and cutting their hand up.

If it is crappy American beer you can just twist of the cap!

When I was in college, 30 yr. ago we competed to come up with ways to open a beer. I have used a nickle to pry the top and the zipper on my jeans.

I have seen people use their teeth but I think this is dangerous. Myself, I have a belt with a buckle that works perfectly when an opener isn't handy.

Anything that you can use as a lever, between the underside of the cap and your index finger.

I just use my trusty pocket knife as a lever and my index finger as the fulcrum. I always carry both so I've always got it covered.
