I have some clips for my No.1 uniform belt for cadets, but one brass will only stay a matt brass colour (even when using Brasso - brass polish) and the other is shiny. The pair therefore look a bit dodgy.

By the way I would appreciate an answer before 12:00 GMT on 11th November as I am attending a rememberance service in which I have to wear them

Sounds like you have a mismatched set of Brass Clips, see if you can exchange one with anybody else who has a mismatched set.

Alternatively try soaking the matt one in Coke for a few days then wash it with detergent, polish with an abrasive nylon pad then give a good brass polish.

Do not be tempted to use any heavy chemical solution as you might ruin it entirely if there is a severe chemical reaction.
