Credentials: amature choir director and music minister for 27 years.
Not everyone has a gift for singing.
Talk to your Mom or best friend or school music director. Tell them you don't want any sugar-coating, but that you really want to know their opinion of your singing. They are almost certain to give you a straight answer unless you have a reputation for losing it when negative comments are made.
Accept what they say, whether you like it or not.
If you have a good voice, sing loud for the glory of your god. If not, sing loud to get even.

Most people have the ABILITY to sing, but have been told that CAN'T sing, so they don't. I would say that most people CAN sing, with instruction.
Now whether that singing voice is a gift is really up to the listener. Some are more talented in one area or another, or have a specific voice that some people admire (i.e. Macy Grey or Louie Armstrong) and others don't, but the GIFT is in the ear of the beholder.

They cant all be lying, You should go up to a random stranger sing and ask them if they thought you were good you will probably get an honest answer then. I dont think everyone has a gift because some people just cant sing like me. Even if you enjoy it dosen't mean your good. x

It's not singing it's hearing. If you can't hear the the note you can't sing it. And the hearing IS a gift, so not everybody gets it. You have to be born with it, once you got that then you can master the singing.

No, it wouldn't be a "gift" if everyone had it. It's a gift that some are blessed with when they are born. It's a talent that some develop through going to classes. The rest of us...we are better off entertaining the shower curtain with a solo.

Not everyone has a gift for singing. If they say your good, then you probably are. DOn't doubt yourself ( something I do as well, when I sing) Just put your heart into it, and develope your talent. :D Sing ON!

There is a clinical condition known as "amusia" -- the scientific word for "tone deaf." Here's an article about it:

So one answer is NO, not everybody has a gift for singing.
I'm sure you're a fine singer, though.

I have a gift for being the worst singer on the planet. Just not my thing --- so I sing when I'm alone. I'm the only one who appreciates it -- ha ha.
