Scientology relies on a the principle of desensitization. They sit you down and have you relive all the painful memories in your life (possibly thousands) and keep thinking about them until you no longer have a susbtansial reaction to the memories.
They measure the physiological reaction to painful memories with an overpriced galvanometer, which is not much more than a primitive lie detector. When the needle doesn't jump above a certain point, you're "cured". ("Praise the lord!" ,) This of course can take YEARS.
$$$$$$$$$
It's nothing more than psychotherapy with a gimmic. Traditional psychotherapy is far more effective, and much cheaper in the long run. Don't tell that to Tom Cruise though...he'll get pizzy and tell you that he knows more than you do. Perhaps when he gets a degree in psychology, he'll be able to convince the professional world he actually DOES know what he's talking about.

You can fool some of the people all of the time. There are a lot of gullible people out there with too much money, and the Scientology crew are there to relieve them of the burden of having all of that cash. Suckers get conned out of their money every day, and the Scientology group is a very sophistiated group of con artists.
You should see the South Park episode about Scientology; it is a classic!

Check out some old issues of Newsweek. I did a report in high school. Many people have committed suicide after losing everything to Scientology.

Had never heard of sciencetology till I read the hollywood gossip columns so I guess its set up for the famous to give them some meaning to life.

A good older friend of mine had a sister that belonged to them. Her husband died of a sudden heart attack and forced my friend to never take her medication again for sever Arthritic pain. So my friend was stuck in bed, stiff, for the rest of her life.
