There are several verses that show having friends in a positive light.

*A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17

*Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel. Proverbs 27:9

*If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Ecclesiastes 4:10

There are also verses on choosing the right type of friends and how friends can betray you.

*Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared. Proverbs 22:24

*A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. Proverbs 12:26

*Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. Psalm 41:9

*You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. James 4:4

*You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. Luke 21:16

The one friend who is unwavering and will not betray us is Jesus Christ. *Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13* The greatest love, the greatest gift, and the greatest friend we have is in Jesus!

Besides the one Sharon quoted, there are several more. Proverbs 17:17 is one. A couple of ideas: first, if you have a concordance, look up the word "friend". You may be pleasantly surprized how many references there are. Also, try this website:

www.blueletterbible.org

and search for the word friend* (the asterisk is a wildcard and will pick up more words than just "friend").

But remember that Jesus Christ wants to be your best friend ever and I hope you will ask Him to do just that.

No greater love has a man than he would lay down his life for his friend. I would look up the address but I just checked the clock and I have to start dinner. But it's a saying of Jesus so it's in one of the Gospels.
