someone told me that if i commit suicide, that it is a sin and i won't go to heaven. that can't be true, my suicide desires are caused by mental illness. illness is not a sin, if it was, then anybody that dies of an illness would be a sinner and not go to heaven, so therefore, when i die, i can go to heaven

Yes, it is a sin. In the Bible it says "THOUGH SHALT NOT KILL" How do you interpret that, in your mind? We need to chat, and I need a cigarette! I'm bi-polar and i'm still kicken. Now quit it, you can run but you can't hide by the way what we suffer from is clinical depression-----which is a chemical embalance in the brain. we are not terminaly ill. Maybe silly in your case. So stop it this second.

Well, you are taking someone's life, which, in your case, is your own life. So then it is a sin. It doesn't matter if you are a crazy schizophrenic maniac who kill someone because you are mentally ill. It is still a sin that you killed that person.
By the way, if you really are contemplating suicide, I would see a counselor right away or talk to someone. You are not alone, many people have these thoughts. You are not worthless, weak, or anything like that.

I must tell you honestly that the bible does in fact tell us that if a man takes his own life, it is an abomination and you will be condemned to hell. This is not me preaching or passing judgment in any way, these are the words of the bible so to speak. Mental illnesses today can be treated with medication and counseling. You should speak to someone immediately if you are having thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself. Think of all the loved ones who would be hurt by this decision. Think of all your fellow friends and brothers and sisters of the lord who would be saddened. Please do seek some help and guidance. Believe it or not, even if you are not into religion, a pastor or priest can help just by listening and giving you a shoulder to lean on. Please, again I stress please, seek some guidance.

hello....its a sin to kill yourself when you are an a full mine not when you have some kind of problem....if you have mind illlness and you can not control yourself an any way posible...not when you are thinking oh i had tough life and its not worth it to live,,,and after all only GOD can say if you go to heaven or hell, no human has the right to judge any one...or say where they going to end up. take care and i wish you don't have these thoughts about suicide.....nothing on this earth woth killing the gift GOD giving us the life.....GOD bless you and salam ...peace be with you....greenrose :)

I'm not religious. As far as I'm concerned the only sin is that you will not be able to learn anymore and come to live a happy and fulfilling life because you've given up. That is a sin against yourself. Your friends and family will be hurt and miss you terribly. That is a sin against them.

Suicide is a sin. But He will not send you to hell if you sin. We all sin, and Jesus died for all of our sins. All of them. You have no right to take your own life. God gives our life and He takes is away.
However, if you are ill and you want to die to end the suffering, think about all the people around you who you can lead to Christ. All the other people who are in pain. God does not ask us to thank Him for everything. He asks us to give Him thanks in every circumstance in our lives.
He will not send you to hell if you love Him. He will take you to the heavenly home, but like I said, you have no right to end your life.Pray about it. God promised that he will never give you more than you can handle. He loves you. You are not alone in your pain.
