I was born and reared in Ireland but I've never come across it. Doesn't mean it isn't Irish though ... It might be Scottish in origin.

I've never heard of it either...but like Orla said, that doesn't necessarily mean it's not Irish. I have a feeling it's English. try googling it and seeing if you come up with any answers.
