not going to get adopted. My plan is to acquire property, build two houses, one for girls and the other for boys, and take in the children that show an interest in education. I want to give those children an opportunity to have stability, go to school, participate in extra-curriculum activities, focus on a career goal and after graduation they can attend college. Are there any good websites or books that is helpful in showing me how to go about this?

I think this is an excellent idea! When I started my non-profit, i found a lot of useful resources at http://www.idealist.org

You can also list your non-profit with them for helpful tools and such there and plenty of resources. I hope this helps!

I wish you all the best!

You are basically talking about operating a house that houses kids in foster care or up for adoption. Contact your local Child Protective Services Agency and the foster care agency. There is always a shortage of these facilities and they can offer real and concrete suggestions for starting operations in their area. Go to those with the most experience in the field to get the info you need. It's a complicated system to get certified to place children in a facility and you will need to talk to the experts.

First, start up your nonprofit organization so that you can begin fundraising to accheive these wonderful goals!! This is the most helpful resource I have found - The Foundation Center. It has several free tools, including a free online tutorial that walks you thru the process of starting, and funding, your organization.
