Because they think they know the truth and want to share it. They don't comprehend that we've already heard the news and don't believe it.

Personally I try to not push my beliefs on people, but if they mention something that attacks what I believe in, I for sure am going to stand up for my beliefs. Just by talking about something that is so real to a believer doesn't mean that it's being "pushed" on someone. Yet many get defensive about that. People can curse, tell dirty jokes, make fun of people, and a lot of other things of this type, and no one is supposed to be offended. But just let a believer make a statement about the Lord or God, and there is a wave of heckling and annoyance that swirls around like a vapor. Truly, when people do say things about their religion, for the most part it's because they really care about people and want others to feel the same joy they do. If you thought you could make a positive difference in someone's life, wouldn't you want to try? Some people just get so over-zealous it comes across as "pushing". Try not to take it personally--the Love of God shines through people who love Him....for some people that's the closest they ever get to God is to experience some of that Light. God bless!

You can't ask a question like that and get a 100% correct response. You are generalizing - people don't ALWAYS push their religion on people.
Most people do it because it's what they genuinely believe to be the truth, and they want others to discover that truth. If you thought for SURE you knew that you mom was going to die tomorrow, would you tell her? Or would you at least try and prevent it? Of course. It's the same with religious people who think that others are headed down the wrong path.

The Bible orders true Christians to OFFER the truth of God's Word about His plans for the earth. He does not require all to accept it. But, this message must be offered like people drowning in water. We must toss a life preserver or rope, hook or something to save their lives. It is not required of them to grab hold and get to safety.
We are required to do our part to the best of our ability and that is all. You refuse and die, that's your business.

I am curious as well. I know in the Bible it says "tell". However, I don't remember there being any references to "push", "judge", or "browbeating" people into some kind of submission.

People on here may seem to be quite aggressive but in reality most aren't. I do not force my thoughts onto anyone.

They should not have to push it on you. If they were true, you could see it in them and would want what they have and ask them about it.

Not all religions do. Jews, for example, rarely try to convert anyone.
