when i was 14 i was caught shoplifting. the police came, took all my info down and i only got a fine from the store.
i am now 18 and 2 weeks ago i was caught again for a value of 100$. the police came and told me im going to receive a court calling.
i was wondering if anyone knows what charges i could be faced with and if i can get this off my record.

Your juvenile record is sealed. Also on the juvenile occurrence, if the police did not arrest you and book you, then you do not have a prior conviction.

So, for this offense, if convicted, you are probably looking at probation, a fine, court costs, and restitution.

There are groups for people who shoplift, you should consider joining one. If you cannot stop yourself from shoplifting, the resulting criminal record can ruin your life.

I'm not sure how it works in Canada. In the US, I believe $400 or more in theft qualifies as grand theft and can therefore get you put in jail. Less than that? I think you'll just be fined (more than just the price of the item - let me tell you, I stole something like $200 worth of items at age 16 and was fined about $500), you'll have to appear in court, and all that jazz. What the ex-cop wrote is probably right.

I'm a bit concerned that getting caught when you were 14 didn't affect you more. Maybe they should have arrested you, made you feel it more. Shoplifting is serious business and can mess up your life. This will probably not be able to be taken off your record unless you can expunge it, and do you know how much harder convictions make it for you to get a job? I really hope you never do this again, for your sake. For everyone else's sake too - they have to deal with the inflation brought on by shoplifters - but for your sake. Getting something for nothing is a great thought, ideally, but you know what? Once you get caught, it's hell. It's not worth it. Your fate is in your hands.

Maybe you should have thought about the consequences of getting caught and about your record before shoplifting again?

I rather desire so. in line with threat a great flogging could help. In historic Islamic regulation her hand could be cut back off! If we had that regulation there could be a large number short exceeded! lol Naw! enable's bypass with the flogging.

Depending on what country you are in, you may have both your hands chopped off.
Think of the money you will save on gloves.

A stiffer penalty will be meted against you for being a recidivist.
