Trust me, it's not for attention. That's why I don't want to be put away (partly). In fact, I'd prefer if my parents are kept in the dark.

If you feel suicidal, please seek professional help asap. If you don't have a doctor right now, you could begin with the health department at your school.

Have been through this with one of my children. You are so young...have your entire life before you. When you feel like this, try to make it through day by day.

When someone takes their life, not only are they lost, you have no idea what pain and suffering you leave behind for your family and friends.

I am praying for you!

Please tell us what you are going to do to help yourself.

He will take all those things into consideration. 18, in college, far away from home, on antidepressants; that's actually very common believe it or not. You'll be ok though. The fact that you are in touch with all of these factors is a sure sign to me. And no he won't put you away. Just be completely honest with him, honesty is always the best policy. You need to replace that suicide thought that you have in your head with someith g else. Like maybe you are feeling missplace, overwhelmed, your maybe feeling empty, overchallenged etc. Sometimes when we have no answers we resort to suicide as to be the answer. But if you think about it from an intelligent point of view, suicide really isn't an answer! Now mind you I'm speaking from my own experience. I've been there and It's a horrible feeling; it's actually called depression. Depression does go away, it's only temporary. Remember before iron can become steal it has to go through a blaze of intense fireing. My father told me that the other day. Makes sense, think about it! You'll be alright, talk to your doctor. Your parents will stay in the dark unless you tell them otherwise. take care, maria

18 and suicidal. What could be so wrong that you would do that to not only yourself but everyone you know especially your family.
Tell your doctor and ask him to change your meds. Its very well known that some antidepressants could cause suicidal thoughts in young people. He won't commit you but will try to help you by giving you something different to take so you feel better. You need to let your doctor know when you have these thoughts so they can adjust your meds. Its not like getting a flu shot where it's helpful across the board. It has to do with your blood chemistry. If hes a jerk and doesn't take you seriously go to someone else who'll treat you better.. Once they get it adjusted you should get into therapy to help deal with whatever pain your going through. You'll feel so much better you'll look back and thank God you didn't go through with it.
You know I read once that people who try to kill themselves and by a miracle survive say they regret it the moment they take that final pill or that final leap.
You might not really want to do this, it might be the medication. Do you really want to chance that?
By 25 I was such a different person then I was at 18.

Read the book "Prozac Nation" by Elizabeth Wurtzel if you have not already. Second, read the book, "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn because it's good, I think you will like it. It might change some of your notions, cause you to think, let you know you're not alone. See how you feel after this prescription. It sounds like you need a little diversion anyway, it helps you take your mind off your problems. It can't hurt!

chances are they will not put you away, you will probably be referred to a psychiatrist who will get to the bottom of why you have these thoughts, then you may be put on appropriate medication and possibly counseling.
Being put in a hospital is a very last resort. Things are much different today.

If your suicidal you should go to see your doctor. Though it may not seem convieniant at the time, they can help you. In the future, you will be able to reflect on your life and be thankful that you made that choice. So when you grow old you will live a fufilled life and make peace with god.

It depends on the way you act ,, if you remain calm and show no true eargency to make this rather irreversible move I believe the outpatient is likely , so my recomendation is to give it time ,, I personally recomend a lifetime , but thats just me , you talk it over with your doctor , and ... I still say give it some time , after all once is all you get , with that particular mistake...

No, you will be referred or given names of psychiatrists or psychologists to start seeing & be put on anti-depressants probably. You will have to keep up with appt's...but don't be afraid, trust me, it is what you need. These people want to help you, they don't want to make you more depressed or fearful. Please get some help! probably not, but he'll probably give you some antidepressants, or anxiety pills. Try to stay away from them, get help without taking meds if at all possible. I've had too many friends that were given both of these and it only makes it worse. You need God more than anyhing ( hopefully that don't offend you, but it's truth) .

He may, or may not depending on the state laws.

Talk to your doctor abour what your feelings are, maybe he can prescribe medication to help you sort out your feelings.

Good luck... being away from family and friends can be stressful.
