I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That makes me a Christian. Yet, I am constantly being told that I don't believe the Biblicial Christ. I didn't think there was another one.
I want some one to tell me why they have the right to disrespect me and tell me I'm headed for Hell, just because I believe something they think is stupid.
No bashing, I want PROOF of claims, and please, please, please - don't quote DECKER - CHICK - Journal of Discourses, anti sites, the Seer, etc.

I have this mental picture of Chris/CJ with three cut-and-paste "hell-bound" files open on his desktop; One for Catholics, one for JWs, and one for Mormons, the better to quickly hop right in there with the first post.
My dear, I would not presume to judge your personal relationship with Christ nor your salvation. I don't agree with some of the tenets of your faith, but I'm also not in charge of issuing "real Christian" IDs (nor is Chris/CJ except on a self-appointed basis). If you say you are Christian, then I accept you as such -- because I, too, am weary of being judged by the unqualified.

With all due respect I have to ask you this question, The Hindus believe that Jesus is one of the gods, does that make them christian? What is the meaning of the word Christian? To know you have to look and see what the founder of Christianity (Jesus Christ) taught. I think the key issue is what is a Christian? That is a question that you have to ask yourself in your soul and pray to God in Jesus name about it. And if you are truly seeking you should read the New Testament in one of the gospels to guide you. peace

Believing in God and being born again are two different things.Alot of people believe yet their hearts are far from him. You'll need to examine your heart - and do you remember a time and place when the Holy Spirit compelled you to repentance? Only you can answer that question and no one else. Let me know what you come up with.

Math class!!!!
When I was a senior in high school, I noticed that my fellow seniors were in a variety of mathematics. Some were in a class called "Applied Math." (These were kids who didn't even get what an angle of incident was!!!! The teacher took them to the gym to experience angles of incident...) Some were in Geometry or Algebra, and kids like me were in pre-Calculus/Trigonometry.
Now, if I had tried to explain Trig to one of those Applied Math kids, they probably wouldn't have even recognized what I was talking about as math!
Does that mean that Trigonometry isn't math?
There's a lot of different varieties of Christianity.
There's Applied Christianity- it teaches the very most basics of doctrine- belief in Jesus Christ.
There's Christianity that's a little more complex- it teaches deeper doctrine and requires a little more from it's adherents.
Then there's Advanced Placement Christianity. If you try to explain it to those in Applied Christianity, they probably won't even recognize it as Christianity....
Does that mean it's not Chrisitanity?...
The only problem is that in high school, we all knew what math was more advances.... In religion, there's no principal to tell us what versions of Christianity are more advanced.

I will just add to what Chris said; You are not a Christian because you have not been born again. It does not matter that you say the words I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That is the very thing that the JW's and the Catholics say and they are not Christians either. Any one can say those words and mean something totally different. The Son of God according to Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit means God, not a god or the brother of the devil or another entity. Even the messed up pharisees understood and knew what Jesus meant when He called God His father, that's why they said He blasphemed God and they wanted to kill Him. You do not know God, have not been born of God, the Holy Spirit does not live in you and the Book of Mormons is authored by the devil himself. You are in a false religion leading many down the path to destruction and you are counterfeit Christians. I have the authority of Jesus to tell the truth, whether you agree with it or not. I hope you find out the truth before it is too late. I have nothing against you as a person because I am sure you are sincere in what you believe, but you are still living under the curse of God and the wrath of God remains on you. You have a whole lot of company too with the JW's, and the catholics. You can not gain salvation or work your way to God and you must be born again or you will die in your sins. Jesus, God in flesh says so. True Christians have got to stop being so gullible and ask people what they mean when they use the same terminology we use because they may not mean what is blblical. That is why so many people are deceived by others thinking they are Christians. I see it on R/S so much and they are preaching and talking about another Jesus and another Gospel that the Apostle Paul warned us about. Ask people what do they mean when they use these words. Do not take it for granted they are saying the same thing we are because it is not the case always.

Ok, I'm Jewish, not Christian, BUT I have learned enough Christian doctrine (from attempts to convert me and other Jews) to pretty much know what the definition of a Christian is.
1. Belief that Jesus is the son of God and a virgin human female. (The Virgin Birth)
2. Belief that Jesus died for their sins (the Crucifixion)
3. Belief that Jesus rose from the dead (the Resurrection)
4. Belief that Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and judges the living and the dead.
5. Accepting Jesus as your personal saviour and god.
That's pretty much it as far as I know. I haven't got any sources to give you. This is just what I've heard over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and (well u get the idea) for the past 48 years of my life from Christians from all denominations, both Catholic and Protestant (although the Catholics never try to convert me).
PERSONALLY, I believe that you have the right to classify yourself however you want to. Freedom of Religion, remember?

It is written, that when one believes that one is doing something wrong in the name of Christ, that the elders sould come together and educate them. If their is no one in the ranks who has the spirit in them, then let the Youth like Elihu in Job, console you with prudence.
These are individuals who have a peice of God, but stopped seeking him long ago. The word speaks that it is your individual responsibility to enforce the word of God within your life. They were sent by another spirit to challege you to let him go. It happens to us all, name one person, in the bible or in life whom God called, who have not been through this.
May he prosper you in wisdom and truth. Amen

They also denied that Jesus was the Son of God also. The Father knows who is his Christians. People often claim the right to judge others who don't agree with them. Hold on to your belief. Jesus is the Son of God and let the others judge until they themselves are judged.

The Bible states: "A prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death. You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?" If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. that prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him (Deuteronomy 18:20-22)
Of the 65 to 70 prophecies that were recorded that Smith made, only five or six actually came to pass. That's a pretty poor record even for the worst of prophets.
Galatians 2:16
" A man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. so we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified."
In his letter to the Galatians the Apostle Paul says:
"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel--which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!
Galatians 1:6-8
Mormonism began in the year 1820 with several visitations from alleged messengers from heaven who came to young Joseph Smith, jr. and told him some very interesting things -- things that were directly contradictory to the revealed Word of God.
Lucifer was never a brother to Jesus.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His ONLY begotten Son that who so ever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Jesus Christ was God's ONLY begotten Son. Also God the Father is Spirit and a consuming fire. Only Jesus as God came in the flesh and went to the Cross for your sins and my sins.
There is only One true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob whose Son is Jesus the Christ.
Isaiah 45:5
I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God.
Isaiah 45:21
There is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none by Me.
Isaiah 46:9
remember the former things, those of long ago, I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me!
God says there isn't anyone like Him. He is the first and He is the last, and besides Him there is no other god. Difference between Mormonism and Christianity is the diference between polytheism and monotheism. It was for polytheism that God destroyed Judah in 586 B.C. If was for polytheism that God destroyed Israel and sent it into exile in 722 B.C. God absolutely condemns polytheism.
Yet part of the Mormon doctrine is the belief that every male Mormon can become a god himself. Joseph Smith said, "You have got to learn to become gods yourselves the same as all gods before you."
Is it possible to become gods? What does God say in His Word, the Holy Bible:
"You are my witnesses, " declares the Lord, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me." Isaiah 43:10
In Matthew 16:13 Jesus asked His disciples, "Who do men say that I am?" Simon Peter answered:
"You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God." Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you , Simon BarJonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, by My Father (God) who is in heaven" (Matthew 16:16,17NKJV)
Jesus clearly taught that the LDS doctrine of God having a body of flesh and blood is false. Jesus said that God is Spirit and that a spirit does not have flesh and bone, nor a body of flesh and blood. Mormons teach that God evolved from mortal man.
In Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind."
In Hosea 11:9 "I am God, and not man - the Holy One among you."
Only Jesus, the Son of God, the Branch of God had flesh and walked among us.

People have the right to think that LDS varies too much from Christianity to be considered Christian. They have the right to tell you this. There is a lot in LDS that flies in the face of 2000 years of Christianity.
You have the right to disagree and to tell them that too.
The right to religious opinion means people have the right to disagree with you. It's unfortuante so many have to be rude about it, but they do have the right to express that opinion of the LDS.
For the record, I consider LDS Christian.
