Many people argue that our founding fathers were "Christian" and therfore our country is a "Christian Nation". (I disagree, many of our founding fathers were FreeMasons & Deists, but I digress)
Our founding fathers were also white males. Does that make America a white male nation ? After all, they presided over a Nation where blacks were enslaved and women and blacks were not allowed to vote. They obviously thought white males were superior to everyone else. So using the "Christian Nation" logic, shouldn't we also say that America is a "white male nation " ?
(I don't think America is a "Christian" nation, or "white nation")

Note to the first two posters,
I don't hate men (I don't understand what tortured logic led you to THAT conclusion from my question. I mentioned that our founders are men, so that makes me a hater of men -- yeah whatever) Also, I am not on any medication, nor need to be.

I agree with your logic. The US is no more a Christian nation than it is a White nation.

At one time it was a Christian nation and a White Male nation.
If George Washington was a Deist and believed that God took no part in His creation, then why do we have a picture of Washington praying to God?
Many Masons considered themselves to be Christian because they knew no better. Masons are a very secret organization and you don't even know what you are doing until you get far up and into the top leadership. Another thing Masons did was make honorary members of every prominent person. Half of the people didn't know if they were being slapped in the face or honored.

People who argue that we are a christian nation are ignorant of their own constitution and of their rights. Our founding fathers were not christian. They were deists.
If you choose to use Christian logic you will have NO logic at all. They contradict themselves constantly. Their fear and uncertainty is overwhelming. They know nothing of politics or their bibles, they love the thought of an end time, if you follow that logic - well, you will have NONE...
What the Christians do not seem to understand [because they are not allowed to] is that every freedom we have now will be taken away from them, they will become nothing more than poverty stricken worshipers of their government. Education as we understand it will be gone, suppression of woman will be returned, genocide will come back and destroy anyone or anything that does not believe what they are told. We will be reduced to robots who are watched not by a deity, rather by the government they are being coerced into putting into place. The ID cards are already there - everyone will need one, you will be watched and under surveillance 24 x 7. Sites lilke this will be gone, I shudder to think.

Fundamentalism didn't come around until the publishing of a book called "The Fundamentals", based loosely on the Scopes Bible. The Scopes Bible is post-Civil War, the Fundamentals was published in the 1920's. I can't see how the Founding Fathers would have been Fundamentalist Christians. And for those who want to go back to the Puritans: the Puritans not only outlawed the celebration of Christmas, you faced corporal punishment for celebrating it in private in your own home! Now where's all this complaining about stores saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas"?

I agree that the founding fathers were freemasons.
As for racism, America is not supposed to be a white nation. There has & still is some nasty racism. It's not as used to be, & hopefully it will get better for all the good people.
I would say the same about sex segregation. Women used to have fewer rights. They have more now. I hope that it's going to get better for American women & men.

No it doesn't. America includes people of all races. And about America being a Christain nation, when was the last time some Muslim was seen on tv condemning terrorism? They do try and we try to publicize it but media is a vicious thing.

Does KKK ring a bell? Obviously SOME people did think this should be a white Christian nation. This is why we are for education in this country. And why we have the vote so that we can keep these people from spreading their perverse ideaologies.

Our founding fathers were deists, philosophers, and slave owners.
NO WHERE in the constitution does it say we are a Christian Nation, though the inclusion of "under God" in many of our offical statements suggests we are a SPIRITUAL nation.
I think we were guaranteed FREEDOM of RELIGION, as much as the rabid right dislikes this.

Absolutely. The USA has to get back to the values it was founded on, greed, murder, slavery and the hanging of all witches and Quakers.
It is the true puritan ethic. Anything less would not be moral.
