I'm not really sure what your question is, but a few ranks other than Sergeant are Corporal, Specialist, Private First Class, and Private.

You have seven different ranking of the Sargeant. Each sargeant has a different rank style. Take the E-5 for example. Its simple to recognize its only 3 chevrons. You said second command. That tells me that they are possibly an officer. Executive officers or XO can consist of Majors, Captains, and Lieutenants. You also have your Deputy Commanders or DCO. They are usually Lieutenant Colonels or above. All though you very rarely ever see a General doing the job of a DCO. Generals are usually commanding Corps strength or Installations.

The dent on those canines tags are rather because of the device that became used to mark those tags with. The stamping (or embossing) device that became utilized in that element required the notch for containing the tags stable mutually because it became being marked so as that the tag won't have crooked names and recommendations on them. that's so user-friendly as that truly. no longer something to do with sticking tags into tooth or that form of element.
