Essentially what he's saying is; common people need idols because they're too dumb to read.
Well that is what religion is all about, keeping people stupid...

The Pope does. a million. The Pope would not very own something. 2. The Pope has no gross sales. 3. The Pope isn't prosperous, he's airborne dirt and dirt undesirable. 4. The Catholic Church is the biggest CHARITY in the international. We do greater for the undesirable, the desolate, the homeless, the infirm, the orphan, the AIDs sufferer and the war sufferer than the different business enterprise or united states of america in the international. 5. Judas additionally rebukes the female who used high priced oil to annoint Christ's feet. whilst Judas says it could have been greater acceptable to sell the oil and supply the money to the undesirable, Christ says "the undesirable would be with you frequently". The Church is familiar with this and so definite, we could sell all the artwork and historic artifacts we've and supply all the money to the undesirable, yet as quickly because it runs out...there'll nonetheless be the undesirable and now no funds. gross sales is created with the aid of fact human beings come to work out those artifacts, which permits the Catholic Church to maintain looking after the undesirable. 6. we don't worship idols, nor can we create idols. We do have statues and pictures of those in Heaven, yet God would not rebuke those issues. examine Exodus 25:18-21 the place God instructions Moses to make statues of angels for the Arc. examine Numbers 21:8-9 the place God instructions a picture of a bronze serpant to be made. And in case you assert "nicely those are ok, with the aid of fact God commanded them", then please examine a million Kings 6:23-28 the place Solomon makes vast statues of angels for the Temple and save analyzing it to work out how Solomon adorned the temple and how God CONSECRATED THE TEMPLE TO HIMSELF! He rather does not if it develop into against His commandments. Statue are actually not against God, it rather is the worship of such issues that are and we don't worship every person or something different than God.

Your question is phrased incorrectly and you mistranslated Gregory's statement.

Pope Gregory I (590-604) was explaining the difference in a letter between idol worship (which Catholics do not do) and the teaching value of holy images to the large majority of people in the world who could not read (and even if they did, there would not be enough hand copied books for them):

"Not without reason has antiquity allowed the stories of saints to be painted in holy places. And we indeed entirely praise thee for not allowing them to be adored, but we blame thee for breaking them. For it is one thing to adore an image, it is quite another thing to learn from the appearance of a picture what we must adore. What books are to those who can read, that is a picture to the ignorant who look at it; in a picture even the unlearned may see what example they should follow; in a picture they who know no letters may yet read. Hence, for Barbarians [those who don't speak Latin] especially a picture takes the place of a book."

There is no "pope" in the Bible, so it doesn't matter what those false prophets say.

Catholics are not saved because they believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).
