I'm trying to learn English, and I want to learn it quickly. What is the quickest way I can learn English, both written and spoken?

The quickest way to speak the language is to be immersed in it for several months.

Perhaps an English speaking girlfriend would do the trick...

Its ridiculous. The majority of them make no attempt to do so. One of the reasons I would love to speak spanish - aside the fact that most jobs now require you to be flippin bi-lingual, is to be able to understand what they are saying and just throw it back at them. Wouldnt expect it from this lil white girl. Also - while we are on this subject - all these jobs require bilingual do you think if i say i speak french or german i will get a job - no. Spanish is needed more then english. Oh - I cant even talk about this anymore without seeing my money go to all the illegals! Uhhh!

Simply immerse yourself in it, use it 100% of the time, even when you're alone and think in English. When you start having dreams in English or in any language that you're trying to learn, that's when you're really learning.

Interact with other english speaking people, watch tapes in english, and read all those how-to books on how to properly speak it..
