Why would you make such a broad generalization? Do you know EVERY girl in the world? I don't believe you do.
For your information, I never lie. I believe lying is a terrible sin and I never do it. If I were asked the question from your example, I would say no, you don't look ugly, and being fat doesn't make you ugly. I would say that because I believe it to be true. There isn't a person alive that doesn't have some attractive features, and I focus on those. Besides, there are a lot of larger women who are absolute beauties.

The answer a female will give depends on the question you asked, the nature of the question, who is asking the question and how she perceives that the answer will be used. Relationships are very important to females and most of the fabrications given by females are in response to the feelings of the other person and in effort to soften the blow of a comment that would ordinarily be very hurtful to the person who asked the question. However, there are many exceptions to the rule of discreetness and kindness in several females. Most friendly females may lie to keep from hurting your feelings or to cover a truth that will harm a personal relationship if it comes out.

Perhaps that person is ugly for reasons other than obeisity.
Why do guys lie? For example, you ask them, "honey, were you at the bar tonight?" and his reply goes something like, "no, I was at the office all evening." Forget the stench of stale cig smoke and whiskey that is eminating from him, much less that lipstick on his collar. lol, just made that up, but come on...

people usually lie because of sensitivity. They are afraid of hurting someone or being hurt or embarrassed themselves. People often lie when they feel defensive or attacked or they lie to avoid making others feel defensive or attacked. People lie to avoid conflict, to save face, to maintain a reputation… in other words: lying is an attempt to take the easy way out.

I would say women look more for internal beauty than external when it comes to there friends. They may be over weight but they have a heart of gold and thats what truly matters to them.
