The keys to manifesting what you want are desire, imagination and expectancy with emotion.
Manifesting what you want is not something that is achieved easily but take many years of practice.
Sometime subtly I have observed it happen in my life.
Imagination is the first step. once you have the picture, like a movie , you desire to see the ending. and you expectations are natural. Don't mess with the middle of the picture or you will sabotage your the work of creation. Let it up to the divine creator. If it is withing your highest good, you will get your desire. When you add emoting, this solidifies the work.
The person who want it the most usually gets it if it is of their highest good. Faith can move mountains, but without it, you close the door.

If you want to manifest a "dream" or possible future, what you do is picture it as clearly as possible until you can see it as well in your mind as you could with your eyes if it were in front of you. Then, believe it and don't worry about it. The goal is to let your sub-conscience do the work, and if you mess with your image too much it won't settle properly down there. When you're actively working toward the goal I think it's all right to use the picture to motivate yourself, but otherwise let it go.

The intended purpose of an imagination is for visualizing God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. As well as visualizing Heaven and the Paradise that we will live in for eternity.
M't:6:25: Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
M't:6:27: Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
M't:6:28: And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
M't:6:31: Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
M't:6:34: Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Very interesting question. I believe that anything or anyone you desire is ALWAYS in the back of your mind, no matter what you are doing. The mental picture you are speaking of is your consciousness. If you want it badly enough, your mind will NEVER let you forget it until you reach your goal.

I imagine my solutions to scenarios constantly throughout my working day and unless someone feeds me with different solutions/ideas I stay on course with my perceptions, but generally I think I stay on course. I do enjoy it though if someone can alter my perceptions and come up with ideas that I never considered.

It's the energy you put into it. You must believe before you manifest it. Just picturing it all day won't produce....it's the feeling behind it.
