I did just that. I asked a date to kiss me. She did, a nice long one at that. But now I question myself, would a woman rather just be kissed, or be asked and leave the option open to her?

I think that spontaneity is cute, but in a respectful way of course. Asking is good also if you want to go safe, plus it shows that you care, which is very important in making a good impression.

The kiss basically is expected from a woman not a man should expect.
If you are being kissed then a women endorse to you.
But if you do kiss a woman it means a full love sign and your inner desire with whole heart and soul is being transferred into the shape of a kiss to a woman.
So kiss is the key or an instrumental affect of a lover whose beloved wants to kiss her.

Depends on the type of woman. Some like the control, others want it unexpected.
If you don't know what she wants, stand up and ask her yourself. Guarantee she'll like the confidence and politeness of the fact your ASKING her for a kiss.

a woman would rather be kissed, you should be able to tell when a woman wants to be kissed without asking her. Just look at her body language.

I think it would be sorta awkward if someone asked me...but as long as it worked out for u...it's ok
Personally, it would be so much better if a guy just kissed me, and even if I didn't like him, I'd just pull away...he'd get the message...oh and I like it when a guy takes charge..

just lean in and kiss.
don't ask that's like saying
"i don't really want to kiss but do u want to?"
doesn't that sound rude!
just be subtle about it!
don't like when shes talking, try to have a make out session.don't do that!
just when shes about to get in her car or go inside just lean forward and give her a smooch.
after a few of those with her try like a romantic long kiss.

there is a way around it, and that is, try to play with your fingers with the hair by the ears, and then touch her ears and play with the shape of it; very simple! if she let's you play, then you face her and approach her in front of her lips, she will kiss you 9 out of 10 times, no questions asked, period!
you should try this, it's amazing how females arouse by the ears!

It depends on the moment. If it's tense and it's obvious she wants it, go for it. But you could also suggest it while you flirt, it'll eventually come itself.
Personally: I like sudden kisses, they are full of passion.
