do they only work when both the driver and the police are driving the same way or do they also work when each are going opposing directions

The police have evil darkside powers that they use to see how fast you're going so they can pull you over and ruin your lives, by having your license revoked!

The radar gun sends a beam of radar energy out, when it hits an object its pointed at, it bounces back to the gun. The gun then calculates the distance and the change of distance in relationship to the gun, in turn judging your speed.

They work in opposite directions, same directions, sitting still, even from the air.

Blame Cincinnati Microwave for the invention. They created them for the cops. Year later invented the radar detector. Here we are with the battle still going on and they got rich, from both sides. They created a need, then filled it.

They work no matter who's going where. The radar automatically adjusts the readout to compensate for the speed and direction of the police car.
