had bought 4 leather sofas on the internet without waking you up? He felt he found a good deal and I could tell he was getting too excited. I told him before I went to bed not to buy furniture on the net at least untill we shop and see what we could buy locally. I woke up this morning and he had bought FOUR leather sofas. Not a sofa and loveseat or sofa and chair. I have 2 rooms of sofa pairs.I could have spontaniously combusted. He said I should be happy. What do you think? Would you be happy?

The Mrs., I really can't say, pictures on our computer are dark but they look nice: but I still don't want 4 leather sofas.

I'm usually pretty passive and I know his intentions are good but if I just act as if it's no big deal there will probably be a next time. I don't want that. As far as it being as simple as sending it back if it doesn't look right... It's not so simple or cheap when you would still have to pay for the shipping on four sofas and the shipping is a LOT of money. Over 100.00 a sofa. And here we're trying to be thrifty.

bfoxguy, I don't put every purchase of soap or choice of brooms before him to approve, but would never go buy a car or furniture (major purchases) without discussing it with him and getting his approval first. I would feel that was disrespectful. And I feel it was disrespectful to me. I fixed the problem anyway. I cancelled the order.

I've really been amazed at the number of women on here and off here that say they would have been happy about it. That's what my husband thought. He thought I should have been so happy.None of the women in my family thought so.My daughter said right away,
" get on the phone and cancell that order." I did just that and we will be going sofa shopping this week. Thanks to all who answered. It just goes to show how differently people view things. God bless!!

I'm not a married woman, I'm actually a husband, but... my wife is a furniture salesperson, and the little I've learned about furniture is that you NEVER buy furniture without seeing it personally. Regardless of how good the deal was, do you really need four sofas? If not, then the deal wasn't good _for you_.

They could be selling a Ferrari for 100k and it still would not be a good deal _for me_ because I don't need a Ferrari and don't have 100k.

Can't blame you for being pissed. Return the sofas or cancel the order and go visit an actual furniture store for your furniture needs.

I would not be happy! I would be extreamly angry about this. First of all, he bought 4 sofa's. Do you need 4? What about all the money that is going to be spent on these couches? Especially when there may not be a lot of money in the first place? That kind of spending is crazy. It doesn't matter if he had good intentions, they were on for a good price, or it made him happy. He didn't consult you about it, he just went ahead and did it. He didn't care to seek your approval about it. And that would say a lot to me. You have every right to be angry about this. 4 couches?!?! What happened to one? And one that you both agreed on? I would make him sell them and I would make him do it now.

well give him a little credit, he did try to do a nice thing. but like most guys, doesn't understand the importance of home decor. explain to him that you appreciate his help but you would rather pick out things together. or keep one sofa, return the other 3 and try to get a matching loveseat/chairs that go with it. it's all about compromise!

I would probably be mad too, but he is trying, right? Look at the positive side of it that if it doesn't fit or look right, it can be returned. Just let it go, and don't get angry about it (I know, easier said than done).

Ok ... so tell him they are great ... choose the ones you want ... sell the rest..... then buy furniture by your self and not allow him input in the future !

Don't sweat the small stuff !

You dont put every purchase infront of him for approval. And it was something that you wanted and somewhat needed so let him have one he doesnot deserve!@#$ . Sounds like he had good intentions.

no. I think decisions like furniture should be made together. Unless of course you already had told him to get what he liked.

I would have exploded and told him to sell them immediately. Items like that you buy together
